He's been in the league for a number of years now, both as a player, assistant coach and head coach. He knows talent, and if we have a player who he thinks has a chance to play at the NBA level, he'll have the contacts to get the guy looked at. All things considered, Darrell would have to be given a serious look if he's really interested.04-cheers

I guess the first advantage escaped me because I sure don't know it.
Yeah, I want this guy coaching here.

And if you don't hire Darrell Walker as your coach, he'll beat you with a golf club.

So we replace one coach with anger control problems with another. I assume Walker has "matured". I want a coach with "passion" and obviously Darrell has it- still I would think stuff like this is part of the vetting process and will be weighed appropriately.

Maybe Walker can show that video and the story on what we don't want here from players. Kind of negative show and tell, huh?

Most of us likely wouldn't want our "worst moments" to have been caught on camera.

When you are going down in flames as a head coach it is pretty easy to lose your cool!

I'm sorry. I thought the first advantage had already been discussed. His hiring would bring the "Splash" effect some have talked about.04-cheers04-cheers

The only splash that I think it would provide would be akin to the type of "splash" you see when a bug hits your windshield.

Gosh you guys are critical. Who among us hasn't hit someone with a golf club and broke a bone or two? "Let he who is without sin throw the first golf club". Old biblical saying.04-cheers

I think it would create a "buzz" as well. Still would it really increase season ticket sales? Maybe a little more than the unknown assistant we are likely to hire, but probably not a whole lot. The rumor that there is "money" behind Coach Walker may be the most important factor in the equation. Maybe there is a "bidding war" going on between supporters of Joe and Walker. That might be the best thing that could happen to our program.

Another similarity that Walker has with Moncrief. And didn't we all just love how that hire turned out?

Ya, I thought it was Super Sid who went after a guy with a golf club. Apparently, Walker did as well. Interesting stuff they "teach" up in Fayetteville. Regardless, I'd be kind of excited about Coach Walker. Folks wanted a change. Other than some mutual anger management issues, I think Darrell will be quite a change from Steve. I doubt any current player would leave, if we hire Darrell- they all think they will be playing in the NBA one day but may figure Darrell could provide a little help if they were to need it.

First of all, although you know who Walker is and his history, it is unlikely the current players would know anything about him unless he got hired. And I'm not sure how much a former assistant coach and failed head coach in the NBA would impress them. And if we hired you MJS to be the head coach, it would also be quite a change from Steve, but is that really what the fans were looking for?
I still like Mark Downey! I'd love to give him a chance to see if he can replicate here what he's done everywhere else he's coached. Who knows. He could be a young Bo Ryan.
I want a winner.
