What a dumb article. It totally ignores the whole point - that the governance of UAB, UAH, and UA is extremely flawed. THAT is exactly why the legislature should get involved.

The writer said he agreed in the bill that set up equal representation for all school. Was that the dumb part?

I agree, it shows me that Jack's strategy is working. His bills are being compared to each other and people are favoring Board restructuring over legislating a football team. I think that's a win.
Actually, this article isn't really that bad. In principle I agree that it's monumentally stupid for a state legislature to have to micromanage state institutions to such an extent to mandate that one particular school field a football team. And, they do acknowledge that the other bills are good ideas. This just highlights how screwed up the entire government of the State of Alabama, let alone the University of Alabama System, is.
State bans all college football based on long-term brain damage caused by flying heads into each other...Wait, sorry guys. Momentary lapse of sanity there.

A lapse of sanity might be to suggest that since Alabama wants to avoid educating its own children with "tainted money" from alcohol sales or gambling, that all state universities be banned from recruiting student athletes from such schools in other states who do benefit from funds from these sources.

That would probably eliminate between 80% and 90% of the "starting line ups" of all 5 state D1 universities total scholarship granting teams.

Also, let's close down Cooper Green just when subsidized insurance happens, and then let's refuse that money to help the needy.
OK, back on track...I'll trade football bill dying in committee for BOT reform passing.
