Believe they are no longer doing it Monday. Apparently a banquet for basketball is going to be Monday night at the Alumni House.
When they gathered together and realized there were so few of them, they should have cancelled. Especially after Witt's "vocal few" comment.
I think these tiny little, last second gatherings make the cause look terrible
I think its Spring break, so they should have waited...

The rally for Monday is changed to a later date! Due to the honoring @UAB_MBB on Monday March 30th @4pm at the alumni house! #FREEUAB

Interesting time to schedule this. Looks like Watts is gonna hide behind the basketball team...

We need to organize and publicize a large public demonstration at a time when the people who work can go. Courtney had committed to this and a few folks showed up, but it was quite small. On the other hand, it was more to just keep the pressure on and to remind Watts we have not forgotten him. He wasn't in the office today anyhow.

Those of you complaining are welcome to help put one together at a better time and show up.
Again, the lack of anyone taking the lead on organizing bites again.
If nothing else we keep the momentum going with another article on al.com critical of Watts - what's the harm in that. Kaleidoscope reporters were taking notes and snapping pictures so I expect a Kaleidoscope article as well - what's the harm in that. We may have been a small group, but I guarantee every one in the admin building heard us which serves to keep the pressure on - what's the harm in that?

I don't know who organized the rally or how well it was organized. I found out about it and just showed up. We knew it was going to be a small group when we gathered, but we decided to go through with the march anyway. As you can read in the article I tried to deflect criticism of the small numbers by explaining that it wasn't about numbers, it was about keeping the momentum going, or otherwise we would have waited until spring break was over.

It was lunch hours and there were a lot of cars on the street, many people blew their horns in support. Many people got out their smart phones and were taking pictures so I'll bet the march hit social media.

There were only one or two students; most most were working folks who took off from their jobs to support UAB and FreeUAB goals and I will never criticize or second guess those who sacrifice for the movement and actually do something.
The next best opportunity is April 11th Alumni Game. Momentum for that has already been going for months.
We had a well organized rally on March 11th (in Montgomery). We are having a rally on April 11th.

Let's rally on April 11th at the game during the day, and that night at Iron City. While I'm there, I'll march wherever Tim Alexander, Jack Williams, or Justin Craft tells me to march.
It's spring break. There was not going to be a big crowd and we knew it. On the other hand, we could just let the week when Jack's documents dropped go by without saying a word or we could get out there and raise a little hell.

I'll say it again, any of y'all standing on the sideline complaining are welcome to put to put something together. Get it started and a bunch of us will publicize it on the various websites, twitter and elsewhere and then show up. I've seen Courtney everywhere, at so many different events. I knew this was going to be small, I could have ducked it, but she asked for bodies and I honored that. She and Tim and a few others have done a lot of heavy lifting. I'm sure they'd welcome some help.

The answer to "Somebody really should do that, only better organized" is to get out there, bring some friends, put it together and lead us. Show us how. Zac Woodfin was very good at it, but he's not here to lead any longer.

Ohhhhhh noooooooo. I said after Witts "few vocal" comment if students are going to rally it's needs to be organized and massive. You got a couple of responses like:

and this gem

Whatever they do will be fine.

They can raise more hell next week.

You go out there with only 20 or 30 students you're going to be validating Witt's point even though we know that isn't the case. But no need to give him, Watts, or the BOT any kind of ammo.
Whenever the PR firm comes out & mentions the 25 person march, we can take it up then.

Our shots will not be consistent, but they will be constant.

I'm sure it sounds like complaining, but i think this comment is dumb

You don't give your enemy ammo son. But you don't know any better so whatever. A picture is worth a thousand words. You give a PR firm a picture of a 25 man rally, regardless if you comeback with a 500 man rally the PR firm still has the picture of the 25-man rally.

You don't purposely feed the alligator your own arm.
Whatever. The NAS has finally spoken & Watts seems to desperately want to resolve it.
