Bring on the PAC12!!!

what a year of Destiny!
I'll be there in person.

NJ Transit train runs from down the street to under the Garden (Penn Station)

First game in person in 2 years.
Only one tiny, little, insignificant problem...
The TED is not in Manhattan. Let's prove we can win on the road!

and let's keep our winning streak against the P5/BCS alive this year! 1-0 baby!!!

Technically it'll be neutral and in fact we should have more fans there than Stanford, but point taken.

Edit: Stanford had horrible attendance for their nit games. I can't imagine they'll bring many fans across the country unless they already live in the area. Temple will definitely be the favorites out of the 4.
Actually, I think Temple will be the favorite. The school is 2 hours from from MSG and has a huge fan base in NYC/Jersey. They'll definitely have the most fans there. If it were left up to ESPN I'm sure Miami or Stanford (P5) would be the favorite.
What is Stanford's basketball team capable of? I don't really follow their basketball team too much.
No idea. Didn't see them play all year.
On paper I was more concerned with Murray St. But this team is very tested and appears to be clicking. If we play exactly like we did yesterday I would pick us to win by 4.

Wow, they look a lot like we do. This should be another close nail-biter! Bring it on!!! My fingernails will be grown back by Tuesday!
Stanford is sitting around the same RPI number that Illinois St. and Murray St. were at.

Oliver Purnell's DePaul team beat them, and they also lost to a not that great Washington St. team. They can be had.
Okay basketball high IQ folks educate me here but from a fan standpoint Stanford looks like a nighmare reincarnation of the teams that gave us fits all year. Length, length, length/height all over the place. PLEASE, tell me I am wrong b/c I have loved this team, loved the games at the Ted this year (especially last night) and would love to see us make the NIT final.
IMO, Jeff Jones > Johnny Dawkins.

Stanford is led by 6'2 PG Chasson Randle. He plays 36 min/game and averages about 19 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists and was part of the 10-man All-PAC 12 team. He hits almost 90% from the line and 36% from deep.

Anthony Brown plays as both a guard and forward--he's 6'6 but only 215 or so. This will be an interesting match-up. He scores about 15 a game with 7 rebounds. He's their top rebounder, but also steps out and hits threes. He's also good from the line--80%. He also goes almost 36 min/game.

Stefan Nastic is their 3rd double digit scorer--about 13.5/game along with 6.5 boards. He's 6'11, 245. Arledge (and Taylor and/or Ross) will need to do a good job on him. He's decent from line, but can get into foul trouble.

They augment these 3 with guys like Rosco Allen (8 points, 38% on threes), Marcus Allen (7 points), and Reid Travis, a 6'8 freshman. These 3 all get 20-25 minutes/game. A few more guys get 10-12 minutes--all freshman, 2 of them 6'9.

The keys--don't let Randle go off. He scored 35 in their 2nd round game against URI and has had 5 games where he gets to the line 10+ times. We need to limit his damage to when the clock is running. If you somewhat contain him, like Vandy did, Brown can go off--he had 26 last game, including 3-6 from long range. We need to stay on those two. Nastic does grunt work, but he's fouled out of 5 of their last 12 games and had 3 other games with 4.

So, go after Nastic early--see if Arledge's pump fakes get him to bite and hope Baker stays in Randle's grill and Ross/Taylor close out on Brown when he floats outside.
I think Murray State is a better team than Stanford. (though this is neutral game vs. home game)

Stanford doesn't really rebound all that well and Nastic isn't a great rebounder despite his size. They shoot a lot more 3s and are poor at defending the 3 point line (38%).

I think Baker/Mosely/Freeman are the key. If they can play good defense on Randle/Brown, we should do pretty well. Baker/Mosely should have a few open looks from 3 as well.
Looking at Stanford one thing that stands out to me immediately is the fact that in there last two tournament games they really only had 7 guys play quality minutes. Quality minutes in my book are about 5 minutes and above. I really think we might be able to wear this team down with our depth especially with all our guards and drive to the bucket and get some fouls on their big guys.

I would love to see this, especially with bacote. he's the best FT shooter and really hasn't been bringing much scoring to the table.

Travel might be an issue for Stanford as well. That three hour time zone takes some getting used to. Rule of thumb is it takes one day to adjust for each hour of time difference.

I agree with everything but the RBing...Stanford is +4.4 RB/g for the season.

Only 10 teams have outrebounded them in a game this season: Duke, Loyola Marymount (by 1 each), BYU, Texas, Washington (1 of 3 games), USC, California, Colorado, Arizona (1 of 2), Utah (1of 2).

BTW, 7 of their loses were in games that they didn't outrebound the opposition, but were also to mostly very strong teams.

If ODU gains parity on the boards we have a very good chance to win.

Good strategy, their center Nastic is foul-prone. He has fouled out of 10 games this season and finished 14 other games with 4 fouls.
