Surreal to see "storm court" and "NJIT fans" in the same sentence. What a great story at my alma mater this year. Couldn't be happening to a more deserving school.

I watched parts of this game online last night. I was thrilled to see that ending.

I'm really hoping to see NJIT win the tournament...and hopefully make their way into a conference already.

Anyone not enjoying NJIT doesn't really appreciate college sports or doesn't really know their story.
I wish the NEC would extend an invite to NJIT and that the Highlanders would start football. (I know football is a pipe dream.)
There apparently was some smoke about the MEAC in December. Any idea if that's still a possibility?

Was that actually smoke, or that piece where the writer was like, "hey, NJIT schedules MEAC teams, why not MEAC?"

Who knows, though. MEAC's got some unhappy campers in it and might be in need of some replenishment.

As long as NAU doesn't win it :) Happy to see them do well.
The feel-good story continues. I hope NJIT wins the CIT. First 20-win season in D1, and they're building a culture around their basketball team game by game.

Great job by NJIT and rewarded with another home game against Canisius. GO Highlanders!
Go Highlanders, great story there in New Jersey.
Hello Horizon League....we have found your 10th team.

What's the story?
I have to admit, if NJIT makes the finals, I will have to watch the game. It is refreshing story for a change.

Morning glory?
That is not nearly as embarrassing as Clemson's fans storming the court last year after in an NIT win. Clemson plays in the ACC for god's sake! Old Dominion, which plays in the Whatever Conference (CUSA?) made a shot at the buzzer last night from half-court to advance in the NIT and not even their fans stormed the court.

For me, the low point of last postseason was seeing the goofy Clemson fans storming the court after their narrow NIT win over some school I had never even heard of (Campbell?). That was oh, so sad on multiple levels.

What made that moment even more surreal was seeing the players on the team that had lost looking confused that the Clemson fans were storming the court after beating them. That was honestly one of strangest things I have ever seen in college athletics.

That's a story for the grandkids: "We were soooooo good in '13-'14, an ACC team stormed the court after beating us in the (NIT) tourney."
Here it is, they beat Belmont. I have no clue where Belmont University is located? Is it in the south somewhere? In which league does Belmont play?

At any rate, no ACC school – not even one with as little basketball history as Clemson - should ever storm the court after beating a school like Belmont. You have to have a little dignity. I mean if you are going to storm the court after an NIT win over Belmont, what would you do if you ever beat Duke or North Carolina in the regular season or during the ACC Tournament - set fire to the arena?

Belmont University is in Nashville. It's actually pretty well known and, FWIW, they do show up in the NCAA tourney. I remember seeing them get anhililated by UCLA back when UCLA was on a tear in the mid/early 00's.
That's cool. What league do they play in – the Sunbelt? The point is, if they had won their league they'd have been like a 13 or 14 seed in the NCAA tournament, right?

So when you beat a team that would've been a 13 or 14 seed in the NCAA tournament, are they really worthy of a court storming?

Now consider if they are worthy of a court storming if you beat them and you play in the ACC – which is generally agreed to be historically the strongest of the P5 men's basketball leagues?

It was just a mess on every level and it changed the way I look at Clemson and it's fanbase. Honestly, my take away from that entire bizarre seen was holy cow there must be NOTHING to do there if they are this excited over an NIT win over some small conference school. Honestly, does Belmont even rise to the level of mid-major?

No matter what happens, that was a very strange scene at Littlejohn Coliseum last year. NJIT's storming of the court last night was also strange but it pales in comparison to what happened last year at Clemson.

They're in the OVC.

Don't misunderstand me. Belmont is not a super power. Clemson fans storming the courts after beating them was crazy. I'm not trying to defend that. My post was meant to be more informative than argumentative.

If they could ever get the facilities for football, their 75% male enrollment would make Title IX proportionality a lot less problematic than at other schools. They already have 10 men's sports vs. only 7 women's sports (that's the NCAA minimum for women), and that may not be enough men's sports. Overspending on football could actually solve compliance problems for them.
