ESPN did a ranking of all the starters in the NCAA tournament this year, obviously before games were played. Just thought it was interesting to see where our guys ranked.(340 total starters)
216. Brown
239. Lee
258. Mehinti
275. Norton
297. Baxter

If we make it back next year, it'll be interesting to see how much movement there is.
Dont think Baxter starts next year its kinda obvious we need a solid third scoring option. Also this is a lineup i like and probably how we shouldve defended ucla.

Mehinti
Cokley
Lee
Brown
Watts
Baxter is by far our best perimeter defender. We couldn't keep UCLA's PG and SG out of the lane.
Was this based on statistics, or just a subjective ranking of which players are better?

If stats, I get it...it speaks to the great team ball we play, having different people step up each night
Dont see the team ball aspect winning big mite win cusa but you need to have three good scoring options on the floor. Baxter may be the best defender on the perimeter because we are lacking good backcourt options right now and Norton couldnt stop the ball from getting in the lane as the first line of defense.
It didnt really say. I'm sure it was part statistics and part how well known are these guys. The rankings were low for brown and lee if you watched the season progress. But, they did have a note about Baxter and his defense, so they had at least seen the team play.

I like that lineup Dee, but we har no depth at the positions right now. Maybe Sullivan will be capable of playing a small 4 next year? I really think we need two more bigs if we are going to run that lineup out there.

Based on juco stats, in assuming dirk will be our third option, and Norton will get a lot more open looks. Dirk wound up with averages of 17.2, 46.4 fg%, 43.6 3pt%, 77.3 ft%, 3 rebounds and 1 assist per game. He's a scorer, hopefully he picks up the d1 game quickly.
Well i think Williams has it all, next years team will remind people of XHCMD tourney team with Sanders, Moore, and AJ.

Also im off the Ingram bandwagon only because Hoover's Dylan Smith recently decommitted from Tex Pan Am. We need a guy like Smith if we got both ingram and smith we would lose two guards off this team.
I do too. I am guessing he will be close to starting from day 1.

I would be good with smith or Ingram, or both. our upgrades definitely need to be made at guard. We also need at least one more true big, but that's always an issue.
I wouldnt be shocked if we went with two guards and allowed Sullivan and Madison to stretch the four spots as backups.

Unfortunately, Mehinti couldn't stay on the floor. He's had trouble guarding big bodies. Usually not an issue in CUSA, but if you look at the WTF teams that we lost to, several had the big-body center. Plus, Mehiniti didn't play in the WTF tour in Florida.

IMO, a stereotypical center is a priority in the off-season. We need a Kenneth Cooper type. Doesn't matter if he only averages ten minutes a game, we just need that type of player for specific match-ups.

At the very least, I don't think Baxter plays starter's minutes next year. I think it really depends on who else we are able to sign in the offseason.

I agree that we need a big i dont know any we're after or the quality still left for 2015 when you could get your guards now and look for 2016 bigs to recruit.
Mehinti did get a lot bigger in just one offseason. Another year in the weight room could really help him out.(that could be said for all our bigs). If we can't find a true center, there is no need to panic and just grab somebody though. The upside with this group is incredibly high at the moment. We just need to keep the guy's we have here and work on improving what we have in place. We don't need anybody to come in and be superman, we just need guys who can come in and fill a role right now.

Truth is mehinti is a true four and so is Cokley so we could use two true centers but we may only get one. We may not need tosin getting bigger more so than working on staying outta foul trouble and conditioning. He is getting the Foz treatment as in you will never truely know what he can do always guarding the other team biggest guy. Mehinti could learn a hook shot or two though whether posted or running, or quick spin an layup off the backboard if he can cleanly catch it. He seems to shoot the 15fter pretty good and the has a great drop step.

Needs to improve his hands...
What have been nice to have Issac Haas on this team. These are his stats for the 2014-15 season:

Average 14 min per game
7.6 Points Per Game
Started 11 games
53% FG percentage
55% FT percentage
4.1 Rebounds Per Game

I think he would have played more minutes at UAB. Needs to improve on his FT shooting. Thought his rebounding percentage was a little low for a 7-footer even average 14 mins a game.

When comparing players, it's best to look at per 40 minute numbers or per 100 possession numbers.

Haas didn't play as much during conference play, but if you look at the total rebounds percentage, which estimates the percentage of available rebounds that he grabbed, he actually led Purdue.

I think Haas would have started over Mehinti. At the very least, Haas would have been the difference in the UCLA game. I was more bummed about losing Haas than any of the guys who went to UA.
Yep. Haas was a difference maker for sure. We had a really good shot at him. But, he went where he thought he should go, and u can't fault him for that. He definitely would've helped us though.

I'd take William Lee over all the other recruiting targets that chose Bama.
