Did anyone doubt this would be a Rockem-Sockem Robot game?

MSU is getting the most licks in right now but man, this is fun to watch!
Refs are allowing a lot of contact in this game.
Now they are inside 6', they are suddenly calling everything. The officiating has been really inconsistent.

I agree with everything you said, except the part about "fun to watch". UNC/Arkansas, last night, was fun to watch.

This is like watching two kids ACTUALLY play "Rockem-Sockem", and I'd rather watch paint dry, or an LSU/Alabama football matchup.
Surprise, you don't like watching an ACC team losing a game they were expected to win. They were supposed to be the best defensive team in the country and yet they lost a defensive battle to Michigan State.

Well, I didn't expect them to win. My MSU to the Final Four pick is still good and even better with Villanova gone.

I liked both the racehorse style of Ark-Unc and this UVA-MSU slugfest.
MSU is always a very tough out in the tournament. So it os surprising that Izzo has only won it once. This is his 13th Sweet 16.

H1 -- I don't have a beef w/ you.

That said --- this has nothing to do w/ my ACC leanings. I don't care if UVA lost or not, nor did my brackets (I have OU winning the East).

I hate watching ugly basketball and UVA is this season's poster child of "ugly basketball". Go ask about 100 of us ACC fans and about 95 of 'em will agree w/ my assessment.
Tom Izzo should be on the $2 bill.

His teams are well coached. The problem is that they end up running into more athletic teams that are just as well coached when they get deep in the tourney.

This team though opened my eyes when they played Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament Championship game. This is a strong team. With that Villanova speed out of the competition, I think they have a very strong shot at getting to the Final Four.

Hopefully they don't look past Oklahoma.

A matter of taste I suppose. As a former player, I have the highest amount of respect for Virginia. Their defense is absolutely amazing. When you put that team against a team like MSU, then yes, it is going to appear ugly to some. To me though, it was a beautiful game.

I hope my comment didn't come off as an ACC hater post. I have repeatedly said this year that the ACC was the best basketball conference in the country despite the equality in the ACC vs Big Ten challenge earlier this year. I never believed the hype about the big 12. The ACC is still King.

That being said, I do wish you ACC guys would learn to respect the quality of ball that a team like Virginia is showing.

A seven seed looking past a three seed? Surely you jest.

I had Mich St beating Virginia today. And Oklahoma making the Finals before losing to Ky.

When you beat the best defensive team in the country which was the #2 seed and the #1 seed is already gone then yeah one can mistakenly allow themselves to start looking well ahead.

I guess you havnt yet realized that Michigan State was poorly seeded. If you think those boys believe they deserved a 7th seed then you aren't able to recognize a team playing with a chip on their shoulder.

I have Dayton beating Oklahoma. They are my sleeper pick, but I am afraid that bogus extra game, they were forced to play might tire them out.

I applaud Bennett's approach to defense, just as I applaud Michigan State's defensive effort as of late (what Sparty did to Maryland last weekend was a thing of beauty).

Where I have an issue with Bennett is his approach to offense. There's no sugar-coating it -- it's ugly. Except for when he lets his players run a fast break, which is rare.

What I saw in the second half was the Wahoo's inability to pull the trigger on an open 3-point jump shoot, instead insisting on "running their offense" to find the perfect shot (whatever that is).

That's what Michigan State had today -- an outside jumper, to go with its strong defensive effect.

Totally agree. His Washington State teams were the same way. Teams that always run the shot clock under 10 seconds before taking a shot are just ugly on offense.
