Talking about rumor starting rumor. It's a thread about a rumor, from a clip out of al.com, that is based off of a rumor.

Like most of the stuff started on any message board. And they are talking about an article written in a newspaper. We don't know if it is a rumor or not.
I'm also starting to believe that Watts through the MVC rumor out there just to get us talking about it.

Because that's what you want to believe.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Until someone besides a reporter stating:
"There has been some interest in and from the Missouri Valley Conference, which would be a quality landing spot if UAB moves forward without football, but how long would any conference wait to adjust its roster for next season?"
No reference from where this was heard from.

I'm just saying that as hard as it was for people to believe the rumors of football's demise, now we are quick to believe the ray of sunshine for basketball's future. I do believe that where there is smoke start looking for fire. Maybe the well placed rumors may get an actual ball rolling. Hope so, just to see how things turn out. I'm gonna be cautious in my optimism were our athletic department and current university president is involved.

Because that's what you want to believe that that's what he wants to believe.
I doubt very seriously that Watts or anyone directed by Watts has looked into other conference membership.

Watts probably threw it out there to Scarbinsky to get people talking.

Another one of his tactics to extend his reign & kick the can.
Any idea of how much money the MVC brings in regarding tv contracts?

I'll give you a hint, it is a ton less than what we have in CUSA.

So supposedly we will take our basketball program to higher levels in a better basketball conference with less tv money.

If that happens, say goodbye to several more athletic programs at UAB.

Well just say you're cautious then. But I don't think someone like Kevin Scarbinsky is just going to throw something out as a rumor. And FYI, it wasn't hard for me to believe the UAB Football demise because the writing was on the wall and many chose to ignore it.

I don't think Watts would have even heard of the Missouri Valley, unless some contact had been made. Why wouldn't he stick with the original A10 comment? I mean, if he is just making up stuff, why not say the A10 was interested. He at least has mentioned them before.

Like what programs?
I would guess the track programs first & cross country programs.

I find it a little hard to believe that soccer would be axed, but then again we aren't exactly living in the real world with Watts actions.
You can't legitimately compare the TV contracts of a conference with football to one without football. Compare it to non football conferences. I suspect it is only behind the Big East and A10.

If UAB stays in CUSA, we will not be getting any of the football money.
At first I wasn't sure about Scarbinsky's MVC article...but last night I read where the MVC had been looking at Horizon League teams as possible expansion candidates (after Creighton bolted)...with that being the case I now ABSOLUTELY believe UAB to the MVC is a real possibility
We would have to be kicked out of CUSA first.

Watts obviously spread that rumor about the MVC looking at the Horizon League too.

That is coming - why wait?
Why can't the Watzis just force us all to convert to be Jesuits so we could join the Big East?
