Not sure if this was posted here yet, but he's gotten some attention recently as a potential NFL tight end.

Quote:Ross has not emerged as an NBA prospect, but NFL scouts have increasingly paid attention to him as a potential tight end. At 236 pounds, he is strong and physical and has good hands.

Ross' body type is just too "tweener" for NBA play. He definitely could make a stellar tight end in the NFL. Good luck to all of our guys out there today.

GO MONARCHS!!!
I am really happy for him. Credit to JJ and BW for making this happen. Respect
Im sure given some schooling at the position he would do well. Ross is a natural for this position.
he really could develop into something as a FB player, but that first big hit from a LB is gonna be something he's surly not used to...
I wonder what his 40 time would be ?

He was on a championship relay team in high school. I would guess he could run a 4.45 at least. After a couple of steps he always looks really fast to me.
4.45 seems ridiculously fast for a guy his size. If he runs that, I have to believe he gets drafted.

For perspective, Jimmy Graham runs a 4.56.
How crazy would it be if the first ODU player taken in an NFL draft is a basketball player?
No way he has 4.45 speed. Come on.

He was a medalist in the high jump and long jump. Not sure about any relays.

He is plenty fast and it really doesn't matter when you are 6'6" can jump 6'10" and really not practice in a state meet and then turn around and broad jump about 23 feet. He will be faster than most tight ends and out jump all of them.
I wonder if Coach Wilder would allow Ross to participate in Spring Practice so Pro Scouts can get another look at him.

If he could broad jump 20+ feet you would have the sports story of the year! 07-coffee3

I think it would be very appropriate actually.

But I don't see him getting drafted.

Walking on in someone's camp is a definite possibility.

If anyone gets drafted from odu it will obviously be Heinecke.

Is that even allowed? Like from an NCAA/eligibility standpoint? I know they are weird about that kind of stuff
I doubt it. There's no unfair advantage gained by it.

More than a definite possibility. A near-if-not-certainty. Remember GMU's Jai Lewis? Ross far more beast mode.
If there is a dunk contest at the Final Four, I hope he gets invited to that.

Was thinking the same thing.
