Yep. I heard Jason Smith discussing it this morning with Peter Edmiston on his radio show. Jason mentioned that Josh should listen to offers from P5 schools especially.
maybe the mods should merge this thread with the original discussion.

B with the scoop!

Josh needs to jump on this while he is still marketable. From the outside looking in, you have a guy who has won 140 something games in 6 years, has been to the tournament 4 times, has a perfect APR score, and his players graduate (some early) and don't get arrested. 18-14 is an anomoly at this point (again, from the outside looking in).

Another year like this one, and the truth is revealed he is a fraud and he won't be able to sniff a job like Alabama.
I think Josh would be a perfect fit at Alabama.
Josh should be willing to take a $1m pay cut to get out of of the insane asylum and get in a P5 conference.
Is this the best we can do, today? I'm going in search of morn drugs--caffeine. Maybe something new will develop.
Good Luck on your brackets, everybody!
Rolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Josh Roll!!!

Link?
One more year at $2.65 million and then being bought out at like $6 million, or a fresh 5 years at $1.5 million per?

Roughly the same amount of money considering one option protects your "legacy" for at least another half decade.
We are losing our basketball coach again?
I doubt Bama wants to spend what it would take.

I see them going cheap.

If that's the case, I could see our boosters willing to supplemnt Josh's salary for a few years to make it a wash from a total compensation standpoint. Much better alternative than a $5+MM buyout this time next year.
It's a gamble for all parties - can Memphis replace Pastner, will Pastner succeed at Alabama without the recruiting base and money and facilities and if he stays, can he have a good enough season to guarantee not being bought out...
