Previously, I broke down the rise to prominence of Campbell's baseball program here: http://csnbbs.com/thread-729320.html

For convenience, this was the gist of the prior write-up, Campbell's record the last 5 years:

2011: 17-37
-- No Regional, lost in A-Sun Tourney

2012: 41-18
-- No Regional, lost in Big South Tourney

2013: 49-10 (# 37 RPI)
-- No Regional, lost in A-Sun Tourney

2014: 41-21 (# 63)
-- Won Big South title, Loss at Columbia, SC Regional

2015: 17-2 (# 59)

Now we face the Camels in a makeup from a previous contest tomorrow night while our basketball team prepares to take on Sam Houston St.

# 27 Campbell Fighting Camels
Overall Record: 17-2
Big South Record: 3-0
RPI: 59
SOS: 212
Best wins: 2 W vs. W&M; W/L vs. Virgina Tech; 3 W vs. Longwood

The Campbell Fighting Camels, ranked 27th in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll this week, will be facing Charleston tonight (Tuesday) at home before heading to Wilmington. They are currently riding a 14-game winning streak.

Campbell is having a highly impressive campaign, out-hitting opponents .322 to .226, out-scoring them 131-56 and slugging 13 homeruns while allowing just 4. Junior OF Cole Hallum has 5 of those homers with 19 RBI, leading the team in both categories. Hallum also operates as the team's closer, with 4 saves on the year.
Campbell lost 10-3 to Charleston last night. A shame that we didn't get the chance to end their winning streak, but a good thing for the CAA and for us that a fellow conference member were the ones to take them down.
Maybe they just hadn't played anyone

Nah, this isn't some fluke team. Not when you win 40+ games 3 straight years. So far this year they split 2 games with a decent Virginia Tech team (10-10, # 78 RPI), took 2 from W&M (10-5, # 91) and won @ ECU (# 86), who all of a sudden is 14-6 after winning 8 of their last 9 (the Campbell loss being the only L in that stretch). That puts them at 4-2 against Top 100 RPI teams.

Pretty much all of our midweek games from here on out are going to be tough. Campbell, ECU, Tulane (16-5, # 50), NC State (10-8, # 106), @ ECU, UNC (12-8, # 46), Coastal (14-6, # 111), @ Campbell, @ UNC. In the middle we have one "easy" game against NC Central.

Fair enough....
Gantz (1-2, 11.25 ERA, 3 K's, 6 BB's, 4.0 IP) will make the start. With our midweek schedule as tough as it is the rest of the season, he takes on an important role assuming our weekend rotation continues to remain the same. Otherwise we'll be depending on freshmen arms.

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The Seahawks welcome long-time rival Campbell to Brooks Field Wednesday when the two programs renew their rivalry at 6 p.m.

The game will be streamed for free by the Seahawk Digital Network on UNCWsports.com. Click here to access the network.

UNCW carries a modest two-game winning streak and wins in seven of the last 10, into the game while the Camels saw their 14-game winning streak halted last night as the College of Charleston, the defending Colonial Athletic Associaton champion, dealt the Camels a 10-3 setback in Buies Creek.

The Seahawks completed a sweep of the two-time defending Ivy League champion Columbia on Monday with a 10-5 win. Gavin Stupienski powered the Seahawk lineup with four hits, including his third homer of the season, as UNCW bolted out to a 7-1 lead after two innings. Whitman Barnes picked up the win with 4.1 innings of perfect relief, setting all 12 batters he faced down in order.

Sophomore righthander Cory Gantz will make his first start of the season for the Seahawks after four releief appearances.

Last season, the Seahawks swept the home-and-home series from the Camels with a pair of 3-0 wins. The Camels, though, would win the Big South title and advance to the NCAA tournament.
As for Campbell it looks like they used a weekend guy against Charleston, so their selection for tonight's game comes down to 1 of three arms: Sr RHP starter/reliever Travis Long (2-0, 1.35 ERA, 1 Save); Sr RHP Bobby Thorson (1-2, 4.15 ERA) or Fr RHP Wes Noble (2-0, 9.00 ERA).
We're underway. I was way off with my guess on which arm the Camels would choose. Sr RHP Coley Thompkins gets the nod for Campbell. Looks like another weekend guy.
Gantz retired the first hitter but got hit hard by the next 2 batters. Down 1-0 on an RBI double
Down 3-1. Dunlap with a HR
Still 3-1 bottom 2nd. Roberson warming up.
These guys seem to really enjoy coming back from behind.
3-3
Big hit by Thorburn to tie it! Roberson in.

Starting pitching is our biggest weakness so far this season. Couple that with strong hitting and relief pitching and that's the result! I'll take it though. It's not how you start it's how you finish.
Top 3rd, Camels grab the lead back 4-3
2 out, 2 run double makes it 6-3 now
New pitcher in for Campbell, a lefty
6-3 still in the 4th. Easter on the mound and gets 2 up, 2 down.
HR. 7-3.
