Whomever LaTech chooses as their likely starting pitcher has struggled with control this year AND been hit hard...

So RHP Braden Bristo: 5 app, 1 st, 0-1, 1 save, 11.1 IP, 6.94 ERA, .309 BAA, 9 BBs, 6 Ks

Jr LHP Phillip Diehl: 3 starts, 0-2, 11.1 IP, 8.74 ERA, .360 BAA, 6 BBs, 7 Ks

Either way, our offense should do quick damage.
And it would appear LaTech will be starting the RHP...

Rice lineup: Chandler cf, Stainback 2b, Byrd ss, Reeves dh, CTeykl 1b, Warren rf, Gray 3b, Taylor lf, Kopycinski c, A.Orewiler p; 1 pm start

I would think our relievers today will be some combination of Pettitte, Solecitto and Williamson, with Otto probably available again for an inning, if needed.
It's "pups in the park" day and these guys are Bulldogs.

Sorry to read about Terry Pratchett's death.
Austin not getting swings and misses early. Tons of foul balls.
Orewiler living dangerously with two outs in the first, puts two on then Ks the next batter.
Very few pups in sight.
The Rally Lizard makes a rare appearance on the scoreboard.
3 consecutive walks loads the bases for Reeves' 2 RBI base hit.

Pitching change.
Even Rice Baseball fans living in the Midwest must love the efficiency of scoring two runs with only one hit (no sacs) so far this inning...
The rare no out start by the Pups. 2-0 Rice in B1 and a new pitcher is summoned.
Another BB reloads the bags, then Gray triples.
More efficient baseball...two hits in the inning and five runs ( no sacs used).
The score after one inning: Pups in the park none, Owls of the diamond many.
Make that 6 runs on 3 hits.

End 1
0-1-0
6-3-0
Austin put two guys on with two outs (single on 1-2 pitch, BB), but escapes unscathed (2 groundouts, strikeoutK).

Let's be patient, as this guy is giving up a free pass per inning pitched...
Chandler walked on four pitches. Now let's capitalize early.
Chandler advances to 2B on wild pitch. As I said, this guy has serious command issues.
Stainback walked on 3-2 count. Runners on 1B and 2B, no outs.
Byrd walked to load the bases with no outs. Time for JC to break out of his mini-slump...and he should get a groove pitch...JC and Bristo grew up together in Monroe, LA.
Reeves first pitch 2-RBI single past the SS. 02-13-banana 02-13-banana Runners on 1B and 2B, no outs. Keep pouring it on!
And that's it for Bristo. New LaTech pitcher is RHP Laeten Galbraith, who took the loss in yesterday's game...
Teykl flied out to LF.
Warren walked on 3-2 pitch. Bases loaded, one out. Need to get the ball in the air here...
Gray first pitch RBI triple off the wall. Rocket shot. 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana
Taylor infield single scores the run. 02-13-banana (Should have been an E-5.) Runner on 1B, one outs.
Kopycinski first pitch ground out to 2B. Taylor advances to 2B.
Chandler line out to LF.
Great job-- I think that qualifies as the quick offensive start I predicted.

Good guys jump to a 6-0 lead heading to the top of the second inning. Orewiler needs to simply focus on throwing strikes.
Ugh...lead off walk. The OG is not going to be happy.

Maybe I should take my puppy there. I took him to the dog park this morning and he was too scared to play with the other dogs. But he might enjoy being the only dog around.
Austin uncharacteristically struggling with his control.
Silent Strigiformes 6 jowly canines 0 as Orwilder eventually gets the third out.
