She is one of the best players I've ever seen in the Sun Belt. She can do it all. Reminds me of some of Middle Tennessee's player in the past. As one of the broadcasters said, if she get's a little stronger, she might have a future in the WNBA. We just had a terrible time stopping her, and Cobbins is a terrific defender, but that young lady just made shot after shot under tough circumstances. Hopefully we won't have to face her anymore this season. I think she has another year left to play. I don't look forward to that.03-banghead
Yeah, she is just a Junior this year. That's the reason the selection show tonight is pretty important. We're on the bubble for an At large bid, and I'd absolutely hate to waste the Gamble era without an NCAA tournament bid because we've got a coach who can't win a big game.
Coaches coach. Players play. Your coach didn't do anything wrong. His teams have won a lot of big games. With that said, I'd like to see Gamble get a chance to show a national audience see how good she is. She's a winner. And in all fairness, though Boyer hasn't taken the program to the NCAA, he's had a pretty tough league to play in. He had to fight through Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky, UALR and others. It's like being in the SEC, or the ACC or one of those top leagues. The difference is that you can be a fourth place team or worse and still get in the NCAA tournament, but in the SBC you get one chance, so your odds are horrible. If a program is consistently finishing in the top two or three most years and winning it once in awhile, that's about all you can expect. Now if he's having losing seasons and finishing near the bottom of the league most years, that's a different story altogether. But your women's program seems to consistently be pretty strong. Nothing to be ashamed of, for sure. You always give us a hard time, and win your share of games against us.

Boyer gets a lot of flak from our fans because he's never taken us to the NCAA tournament. Program is in a good spot, but we've been absolutely awful in Big games.
Last two years we've made the finals and been in position to win and couldn't protect the ball the final two minutes. Not quite sure that's on the coach except for arguably not having someone at point who can handle clutch situations.
One of the steals was from Gamble. Those things can happen to anyone. Especially against a defense like UALR. You put the ball on the floor or near the floor, and someone is going to try and take it from you.

Why don't you get off Boyer's case. He's a good coach and yes I hate it he didn't win the big game but you can shoot the ball for them in the game, one of our top scorers has been hurt the entire tournament and another role player was gone for the entire tournament. We got beat, plain and simple but it wasn't because of the coach.

I like Brian a lot but 16 seasons and never even stumbled into the NCAA Tournament by accident, one regular season title and on average has finished just over 5 games out of first.

Now I'm puzzled why so many people waited until year 15 to complain instead of doing it when he was averaging 6 and 7 games out of first. Last two years haven't warranted the complaints.

How many other schools would tolerate 16 years of a head coach with ONE Conference title and ZERO NCAA appearance?.
I don't know how many post season tournaments the ASU women have been in during Boyer's time, but that would be a fairer assessment, as well as how many D1 games they won each season. In a one bid league, NCAA appearances are probably rare for most teams, and might not be a fair assessment of a coach's performance. If a coach is winning 18-25 games a year consistently, even though he hasn't been lucky enough to get to the NCAA, that would be a good record.
Had our men's team been doing that, and increasing our fan base, Steve Shields would still be here.
