Wonder what took so long?
Maybe we could bring him in as a recruiter.
Can't figure out Depaul. Major player in the late 70's/80's. I think one of their mistakes was giving the coaching job to Joey Meyer when his dad retired. Way too much basketball talent in the Chicago area for them to be this bad fo so long. Oliver made his money. Maybe he stays in coaching at a mid major.

Remember when he left Clemson, and it seemed the consensus was Purnell felt his days were numbered at Clemson, and DePaul was offering him one last major payday.
I bet he ends up at Liberty ! Back to Va.
Great way to stay in coaching, while still maintaining zero wins in the tourney
He could pick any low mid major job he wants.
Anyone else hear that Anthony grant got canned today?
Just saw it on CBS.

A few days ago there was a thread on coaches who regret leaving one school over the other in the conference realignment board and he was my pick. He could have stayed at built VCU into something on his own, instead left for a football school in the cbball backwaters while VCU took off without him.

yep, he got canned. i think sometimes these guys should stay at the mid major level. they get hot at a mid major and then bolt. of course, they got their money and will coach again.

Honestly I feel he was one of the last of the midmajor coaches who leave for the first p5 school that comes around. Smart, Marshall, Mooney, and Stevens were all guys who stayed, probably realizing their situation was much better than a lot of p5 schools (Obviously Stevens left, but it was for the NBA, big difference than leaving for another college job)

yes. those guys you mentioned have it made. can really stay at their respective schools as long as they want. i think Enfield from So Cal, who i think we wanted, will be the next one to burn out at a P5 School.

I think thats a valid point, and his name was mentioned in that thread as well. At the same time I dont think FGCU was every going anywhere, I cant even remeber what conference theyre in off the top of my head (Atlantic Sun?), so he might have jumped at the first good offer before he was forgotten again. But yah, don't think he'll do much at USC, that program has been pretty much down since the OJ Mayo era/controversy
Anthony Grant to Charlotte

Makes total sense.
When is it Paul Hewitt's turn? Mason can't possibly ride that lame pony much further.

Im wondering if the GMU fans are open to the idea of Grant coming in?

As we know, the fans don't get a vote and sometimes that works out!

I went on their site to see their reaction to the Grant, and a few were against the idea, with one fearing the jokes they would receive from VCU fans. Thats a strange reason to be against him being their coach, makes me wonder if Lville fans had those same fear when Pitino was hired.
