NBC/COMCAST/ESPN will control The National Alliance League
ABC/ESPN will control BIG 10
CBS/ESPN will have SEC
FOX/PAC 10
First of all a looksie at potential NAT'L theme.
ACC 8 UVA, UNC, Clemson, DOOK, GT, FSU THE U, VT(This setup has to be better for all scheduling and round robin. Which all will want to get back to in time.
The NE/MIDWEST ND, Purdue, NW, PSU, NAVY, Pitt, CUSE, BC(School needs to live football wise)(notice I left out Mich State(ND would interest them). Plus ND has in this scenario 5 games to schedule with whomever.
The SouthWest 8 Texas, OU, KU, TCU, OK State(State laws say they and sooners together), Baylor, BYU(ND and TEXAS desire), Texas Tech
(Iowa State is a bust if BIG 10 and IOWA will not save)
Now the PAC 10. As you can see from above ND has five games of easy control. Stanford and USC will be on there as much as maybe MICH STATE(whom I know for sure are a ND desire)
PAC will expand a bit. So schools to look for are of neighboring states. New Mexico Bball is strong and has appeal.
THE BIG will well not be overcame by loss of Purdue and NW. PSU will hurt but not kill. A loss of MICH State would shock the system. I still think they are possible walk with the Irish. Like others on here though. I cannot totally say that. Purdue and NW just need something different plus what money they make now is spent trying to compete.
Maryland, RUTGERS, OSU, MSU(???), Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, IU, WISKY, Nebraska, Minnesota. Losing PSU is a bridge killer. The BIG will find someone to get back to 12. Prob form a scheduling agreement with PAC10. FOX and ABC would be pleased to cover their conference home games.
SEC will expand. Kansas StATE, , U OF L(KY will relent because SEC network wants the rivalry. Especially bball) and WVU. NC STATE leaves the domination of UNC/DOOK for SEC. That is 18 teams. Two 9 team divisions or if they decide three 6 teams divisions. Up to the SEC on that. Look for Mizzou to go to west division. Just a thought.
While ESPN loses many schools as you can see they get better content. Games that matter. Also they will still show the smaller conference games. Which in time I think will be whole different division from the big boys. Look for schools like WAKE and Iowa State
to drop. As mentioned above a school like BC may. Wash State probably will not but they bring nothing to table. To survive for this matter you need to bring something to table. Otherwise have a friend. One other thing to look at in this scenario which I have been told will happen in time. A Oklahoma and Nebraska every season game can happen. Should happen. TV needs. So schedule the darn game as OOC. Surely with OU only have now 7 conference games that can happen.
While the schools above may not be what eventually WILL happen I think it is ballpark look. Some will laugh. Still the setup is great. Lumberpack even himself told of schools united at hip. Take a look at the ACC division. Only STATE and WAKE changed. In this scenario you can still see STATE will play UNC, DOOK, and Clemson. Just will not count conference wise. State like an A & M will tire of being 3rd fiddle. While I really think Wake may get place at table. Just not sure they wouldn't be better off dropping a level.
Now why will ND bite? First of all NBC wants a bigger pic. LOL a game between ND and Nevada is watched I agree. The issue is a game between FSU and THE U would be watched more. Heck a lil conf game between ND and the CUSE would be watched more. Simple as that. ND still can schedule their pals out west. Then whomever. NBC who now controls some great inventory walks way happy. Plus they and ESPN strike deal to make each network flourish. While they still compete. ND yes has power. The problem is the ACC as is now brings nothing for FSU, Clemson and VT. The 3 football schools of ACC. FSU is very vocal about money issues. Plus having a better schedule to sell to fans. VT is also vocal on this matter. Stealthy but vocal. ND will always want to schedule whom they play. This is the final solution. Something better for all. Time is coming. Just I don't think it is close as Packman 81's allured to. I am saying in 5-10 years. MONEY MONEY And more MONEY. ND dealing the cards but FSU is tired of bluffing. Fix the problems or we run. The fix......NBC!
