This is a much better tourney then the CIT.

I believe Okoloji played in it two years ago at Mason. WMU played a quarter final (?) game at Mason.
Smaller field...I think only 16 teams. Don't know how we would get a CBI bid when WMU and BGSU only got CIT bids.

A different twist with the championship round of the CBI, the two teams play a best of 3 series to determine the tournament champ. I like it.

And they are trying out a 30 second shot clock this year.

Eagle Nation is saying that we will play in it.
Murphy confirms in post game interview that we will play in the CBI.
Interestingly enough, the CIT tournament for the record is going to be testing the 30 second shot clock as well during their tourney:

OK, didn't realize this.. but so is the CBI.. http://www.gazellegroup.com/events/cbi/n...0shot.html

And I see I was beaten by this in a previous post. 03-razz Sorry!
Oh wow. That'll make it a little more interesting.

I've longed for a shorter shot clock in college hoops. The 35 second clock, plus egregious offensive foul calls, take away from the game, in my opinion.
What a joke! Cbi please.
Dear Friends,
Agree with super here. These basketball tournaments are getting like the football bowl season. A tournament for everyone. Come one come all! Pretty soon we will have the NBE Tournament: Nobody But Everybody Tournament. Sorry gentlemen, but that's the way I feel about it.
Sure the team underachieved this year in conference play. We all expected more after the start that we had...

But I find it almost humorous at how spoiled some of you act toward the program. What are we supposed to be upset about ? Two straight 20 win seasons and two chances to continue play... What's the downfall ?

What about the Ramsey and Boone eras ? Would you like to go back ? No, you wouldn't. We have a competitive team, and as long as Murph is here it will continue to be that way.

Don't get me wrong, there will come a time (sooner rather than later) that we will have to take the next step, but I'm pleased with the spot that we are in right now.
This is all speculative, but I'm interested in seeing how the next few seasons play out. Lyke, thus far, has proven herself to have a 'win-or-goodbye' attitude towards coaches. Murphy's teams have been an obvious improvement from Ramsey and Boone, but he's yet to take one more step forward. If we don't at least make the championship game in the next two seasons, what will Lyke do?
I would like 3 losses back (BSU, UMiami, OU) but thats how sports work. We did beat UM. We did beat UT when we needed to and we won a game in Cleveland.
By making a postseason tourney EMU is one of the best 150 teams in the nation (w/ 200 teams below us). Like easterneagles79 said above: we are consistantly decent for the first time in 3 head coaches. This aint so bad.

We are just as bad as we were during the boone years. We had one of the weakest schedules in school history at the d1 level ! We had one decent win againt a good team we 5 or 6 loeses to really bad teams! We played 4 naia teams And really didnt play all that well against 2 of them.07-coffee3
Here is another fact for you. Season ticket holders are leaving in droves. They ticked off for having to for reserve seating to watch our team play the likes of Concordia, Rochester and Madonna! If haven't noticed most reserved seating was empty most of the season.my guess is in a few years all reserved seating will be turned into general admission and that will the final straw .

Out of all of the completely off base, and irrational thoughts that have come from you on this board...that comment absolutely takes the cake. Why don't you go back and check out all of those power conference loaded schedules Boone pulled off each and every year.

Sorry, but nothing will ever top his anti-dunking stance. This is close though.

And im not anti dunk i just think they are a waste of time and energy. They are not cost effective when it comes to what wins games. :coffee3:You left out assts!07-coffee3
Super, I appreciate you tremendously. However, I don't think I've ever disagreed with something that you've said more than now. Saying that we're as bad now as we were in the Boone era? Really...

3-25
6-24
14-14
13-15
12-18

That's the Boone era. With Mike Ross, Ricky Cottrill, Markus Austin, and Ryan Prillman, Boone did less with more talent than Murphy did in his first year here.

I agree with you Ken. This is a joke. Tournaments should be for winners, not also rans. Before you know it, there won't be a winner in the MAC or the NCAA Tournament. Everyone will get a participation trophy.

Yes. Any day now the other 200 teams are going to be let in the postseason.
