it is easier for a small school to be successful in women's basketball if they decide to make a commitment to the sport. Not as easy as it used to be, years ago, when schools like Old Dominion and LaTech dominated women's basketball. Still a look at the current women's RPI has half the teams between 12 through 31 coming from nonpower conferences- Princeton, Dayton, Florida Gulf Coast, Chattanooga, Quinniapac, Green Bay, James Madison, WKU, and UALR. Dayton may not belong in this group, but all the other teams are in mid to low major conferences and would be extremely unlikely to show up in the men's top 30.

Anyone know how Middle Tennessee is doing this year?

2nd in CUSA. Look like a WNIT team though.
