Really enjoyed listening to him when i was in Cincy. He seems like such a genuinely nice person.

Sat next to him in a luxury box at the reds game about 6 or 7 years ago. He was a really nice guy.
Not much of a surprise. He is getting up there in age. McConnell has been filling in for him a lot of late. Wonder if Mike will be his replacement.
Was hoping McConnell would 9-12 full time, he is on now. Looks like he will replace Scott.

I can't imagine anyone, especially Mike, wanting to get up at 3:00 AM every day. What awful work hours. But Mike it is...
There can't be many others who have been continuously on the air for so long.

I can only think of two, Dick Biondi still on FM Chicago, and Sonny Payne who has been doing his KFFA King Biscuit Time show in West Helena Arkansas since 1946.

All hail Jim Scott.04-cheers

1 thing I'll like about Mike vice Jim is that Jim will let the ABC Whitehouse correspondent say what ever they like (usually a WH talking point); while Mike will ask a follow up question or call them on it. That occurs every morning at ~ 7:15

That's because the interviews are prerecorded and used by radio stations across the country
Yup. That is syndicated.

Media is canned? Who knew?
I haven't listened to it lately, but back when Ann Compton did the reports it was definitely live. This was only a few months ago.
Yeah it definitely wasn't a canned piece that was used by stations across the country. He may have recorded the spot earlier in the morning some of the time and played the segment during his show but it wasn't a canned interview that plays across the country.
They do the international news interview at 5:56am, with Mike doing a more extensive job for sure. Not really a big fan of the show because it just bounces too much, talks about things that "nobody cares" (cue South Park) and seems less a conversation of ideas. How do you not like Scott though? A lost age when people, not just in broadcasting, worked over 40 years at one company. I remember when Jerry Thomas retired too, his son Brian does ok.
My wife is already mourning the loss of Jim Scott. When she is in Milwaukee, she listens to WLW on I Heart Radio in the mornings to get her Jim Scott fix.
I get it, but when Brian Thomas is waking you up with Primus or Motorhead, then interviews peeps like Judge Napolitano etc there isn't much of a choice for me.
