Outside of the WWW years. Can anyone name 5 players who came to Memphis from outside of the Memphis metro area who were 5 star players?
Don't follow that stuff that closely...lots of creepy behind the scenes stuff between www, some AAC, Nike etc...but if www was only helping narcissist from around 2004 through 2009... I can think of...

Will Barton
Jalen Kendrick
Dejuan Wagner
...they may all be www guys...

David Vaughn had Memphis connections...so not know if he was a five star.
Kelly Wise from Florida...doubt a five star
Believe Derrick Phillips was from Missouri, also do not know how highly rates a recruit he was back in the day.

Had a good one from Memphis lately for sure.
Overall just trying to recall five star recruits even since Pastner became head coach...five star by at least one rating service

D. Lawson
Adonis Thomas
Joe Jackson
Jalen Kendrick
Austin. Nichols
Will Barton
Shaq Goodwin

Wagner IS WWW.
After Cal....

Nichols
Adonis
Will Barton
Dedric Lawson
Joe Jackson

Kendrick and Shaq were 4 stars that made McDonalds AA
The fact is before WWW became Cal's bag man it is almost impossible to name many national power player who did not have ties to the midsouth who came to Memphis. We have a good heritage in basketball. But it is not as some want to make it out to be. So let's keep our expectations in check when it comes to the future and where our program is.

Was looking at 24/7.....both bad wrong.
5 star don't mean squat. So many of those guys are not nearly as good as 3 stars. NBA is full of 2-3 stars. Lilliard with Portland, Marc Gasol with Grizz, etc.
None

I agree. I still would like a new coach.

You so naive to think our current/recent players don't have bag men?

Wake up to reality of major basketball.

WWW was and is in a league of his own. Without him Cal would not have been in on 1/4 of the parade of players that signed with him. That was a very short period in Tiger history which is gone and will never return. So we need to look at our program realistically and stop hanging on to a period which was an anonymity. Let go forward with a little sanity.

Not 5 stars, but...

Look around college basketball. There's plenty of talent from the city for us to be competitive - with the right coach.

Currently playing (not for Memphis)

Octavius Ellis
Cam Payne
Andre Hollins
Anthlon Bell
Leron Black
Chris Chiozza
Martavious Newby
J3
JuJuan Johnson

Others:

Chris Jones
Jarnell Stokes
Skal Labissirre
Austin Hollins
Todd Mayo

Talent isn't an issue.

We have been competitive.
And we have landed plenty of high level Memphis kids.
Some of whom will likely lead us back go the too twenty as soon as next year.

I would argue that the talent we've had should've produced more convincing results than just "competitive". Also, Payne, Stokes & Skal will probably end up being the best of the bunch and we didn't get that done (yes I know why).

I'm just sayin...

Whoa Dere!!! Be careful....The shampoo buyers don't like to hear converse dialect such as ^.... We can't look @ how we're more talented than 99.9% of opponents that rendered such results.....Most of the users have absolutely NO CLUE of understanding/recognizing/determining this fact.....Only shampoo users that swear by it's results even though their damn hair is hard... brittle..... lifeless....losing colour and even falling out for that matter........ CLUELESS
