5. Are we seriously supposed to debate with someone that references Carolina as "UNCheater"? It's pretty obvious that you have your narrative set, facts be damned.
My narrative is set based on the facts that i've seen presented. It seems pretty clear to me and to everyone else that is a non UNC fan.

And Even when Duke was average during the "ERA" you suggest i'd still bet they never lost 5 of 7.

So, you've read the Weinstein report, or you've read what Dan Kane had to say?

In '07, Duke had two separate 4 game losing streaks and they finished 8-8 in a weak ACC. At 22-8 on February 28th, they were ranked 14th, or 5 spots higher than Carolina right now. My, Coach K forgot how to coach there for a while.

Haha, glad you finally came to the conclusion. I've read more information on the UNC situation than i care to admit, and yes, my opinion comes from that information
I told you before i read most of that. Boring stuff.
Like I said, I apologize for contributing to this thread for two reasons. First, as a Cuse fan, I understand that today's news is disappointing regardless of what occurred at SU. Today isn't the day to discuss this with you. Secondly, UNCW plays in the CAA tourney tomorrow night, with a legit chance to win three straight, and make it back to the NCAAT. That is where our focus should be.

Agree, glad it's on Comcast as i can't wait to be camped in front of the big screen.
UNCCH corruption spans many years so it will take the NCAA along time to investigate it.
Carolina is still ranked after going losing 5 of 7 for a couple reasons. First they've been competitive in most of those games. They had a lead in Louisville before losing it in OT, a top ten team. They played evenly against Duke in Cameron Indoor, top 5 team. And they were competitive against Virginia, a top 3 team. The only game where they severely imploded was against pittsburgh, which was shooting lights out from all over the court. And when you're ranked lower you're expected to lose in the voters eyes so when you play competitive and arent blown out you're not going to drop much.

The NCAA also has to be delicate in regards to Carolina because the scandal is over, UNC handled the issue and reported it, completed a through investigation which most other programs would never even consider because of what it would turn up. So how do you go about penalizing the program? In my mind it never makes sense to penalize the current team because they had nothing to do with the program. They cannot take away a national championship because as far as i understand the statute of limitations has passed on that.

So as what ivy said let's not focus on this but rather our own team which has a chance to compete in the big dance
You couldn't be more wrong! It's not over. Syracuse self reported stuff this year and a few years ago with Fab Melo and they still got the hammer laid down on them. All I hear with the competitive nonsense is that you are into moral victories 5 losses are 5 losses of its by 2 or 20
When i said the academic scandal is over i mean the current athletes are not implicated in the findings. I never said the investigation was over.

And I'm not into moral victories but perhaps the voters are. The eye test is a major tool used by the selection committee so I would assume the voters would use it as well. Hence why they're still ranked.
the only rd eason more info came out on unc was because n & o kept the pressure on to get to the bottom of what happened
You'd think there's not an important CAA game being played right now...
I am watching it
Okay. Now back to this OT: Syracuse thread...

As someone who doesn't give a rip about Syracuse or their program, one thing I will say is the JB does deserve some credit for sticking with the program through this investigation. Obviously, the penalties are just now falling so we'll see if he completely sees it through, but this is a bit different than the normal issue we consistently see in the NCAA. Coaches bending, stretching, and cheating the NCAA rules then get busted, and leave the program and players left hanging with the discipline while they skate off to other NCAA programs or the pros.

Calipari is the model for such disgusting behavior.

It is refreshing to see a coach with at least a little bit of class so far taking this one on the chin. I'm not sure that he had any offers anywhere else, but it is commendable of him from that standpoint.
I have no dog in this fight, and I am by no means defending UNC. But according to cusenation.com and scout hoops, the NCAA investigation had been going on for several years. After a hearing in October, Syracuse reported ten violations and offered self-imposed sanctions.
"In addition to a Syracuse coach (as well as staff and tutors) doing academic work for a player, MBB coaches hooked players up with a booster who gave them $8000 in cash (per WaPo)."

The director of basketball operations had players usernames and passwords, and regularly corresponded with professors and completed assignments.

Before we give JB a pat on the back for sticking around, let's remember that this isn't the first time that Cuse basketball has been hit with probation during his tenure.
Yeah like the cash thing doesn't happen. Your UNC thug got in trouble last year driving a rented luxury SUV in someone else's name rented ... Come on man
"Everyone else is doing it" and "I don't make excuses" aren't compatible statements. Stop making excuses. This is ugly for Cuse and it has nothing to do with any other university other than Syracuse. Stop deflecting.
And Kansas was put on probation after Roy left for violations he admitted knowing of
