I would think the MAC would be the most likely beneficiary if these discussions were to end with a new bowl game.

The Super Bowl champion New England Patriots are considering extending their sphere of influence in college football.
According to sources familiar with the process, Patriot officials are in ongoing discussions with representatives from the American Athletic Conference about bringing a bowl game to Gillette Stadium, perhaps as soon as next season, although the window for creating another bowl game for 2015 is rapidly closing.

Wonder if it would be something in 2 years if UMASS becomes an independent.

AAC school vs UMASS if eligible.

I agree, but between this and the Potato Bowl I'll go with Foxborough. AAC > MWC, there's far more direct flights to Boston than Boise, it's not an impossible drive for UB fans, and UMass has proved the past few years that you can creatively seat the fans in certain sections to give the illusion there's a decent crowd there.
Boston > Boise around the holidays... And for a bowl game too...
My thought was the Pinstripe Bowl except the stadium isn't a subway ride from all the things that make you want to travel there. Stadium is about a half hour to 45 minute drive from the parts of Boston you want to see as a tourist.

Split the difference. Stay half way between both then you are only 15 minutes from each destination. Not a bad idea for an early Pre-Christmas bowl for TV. A MAC team from Buffalo, a local independent team like UMASS until they find another home, and a NE American team like UCONN, Temple and Navy would make this bowl work. If the bowl is semi successful then the ACC and B-10 might show some interest for 6 & 6 regional schools like Syracuse, BC, and Rutgers in a rotation for those schools passing through the Pin Stripe Bowl in NYC. Army as an independent might have some interest in its search for bowl destinations too during the new 6 year contracts which are being eaten up by the conferences. Right now Army only has the options in the Poinsettia Bowl and the Armed Forces Bowl or seek an at large spot. Of course at some point they have to turn things around at West Point and they have to get back to at least 6 & 6 seasons to be bowl eligible again. 07-coffee3
