Our attendance doesn't matter.

Our reputation doesn't matter.

A committee, of former basketball coaches, sits down and makes the picks.

Also, about half of the slots go to teams from mid-majors who won their regular seasons, but got beat in their conference tournaments.

I say we accept an NIT, but decline a CBI or whatever that other one is called.

Go Tigers!!!!!
Blah!!
I think most here would say accept the NIT if offered but as it stands right now I don't think we get an offer. Lose the next 2 and go 1-1 in the AAC and I don't think we get a bid.

Oh I see,

We got a lot of Negative Nellies on this board.

If I recall, his Highness Calipari lost a lot of NIT games at Memphis.

Yeah, but if memory serves, never failed to make the nit...

A new low. Great post.
We I was a youngster the NIT meant something. This team is not NIT worthy IMO.

Actually, that goes for any regular season champ (but all regular season champ from major conf that don't win their tourn always get NCAA at large bids).

But yes, believe most hoop fans already knew that regular season champs from any conf get NIT bids.

So with every upset winner in conf tourn (that wouldn't have made the NCAA with at-large bids), that means another team (regular season champ who from smaller conf wouldn't have received a NCAA at-large) secures another spot in the 32 team NIT field.
Maybe it will be best for all if this season just ends, not like we have a ton of freshman who could use the extra practice time, we got that in Canada and it didn't help one bit. The stars of that trip were King and Iverson, one is gone and one plays few minutes and is rumored to be leaving.
Does anyone really give two craps at this point?

I really don't. Pastner has taken this program to a level I never thought I'd see.
The title of this thread...smh....so it's hard to be 1 in a 100 now?

"Wait til next year..."

it was easier for a program like us to make it back then. His first team and the DWash team probably wouldn't have gone if the NIT was in its present format.

Some people give two craps in the morning.

That's a fair point and I kind of knew that when I posted it admittedly. But I tire of fans bad mouthing the programs potential and long term history of success to defend the current coach.

It's more frustrating because if you want to defend jp you just say '4 straight NCAA tournaments and one down year.' No need to talk in terms that make us think we should be grateful for a NIT berth....

Calipari had a very good NIt record when he was here at Memphis. He lost 2 NIT post season games, but, both were in MSG in the semi finals.
His 92 team won the NIT.
