Thoughts?
Is that a guy's camp only or is it guys & gals?

If it is a guys only camp is there a similar one for girls only?
I went years ago, every year. I loved it
Do it.

Did you have other camps to compare it too?
Did you go for fun, or to develop your skills? Did it develop your skills?

Most important, did your parents get their money's worth?

There are cheaper camps closer to me, but my son is really driven to improve his skills. Just wondering if this is the camp for him?
From the few parents I know that have sent their kids, it is one of the best camps in the Southeast. Getman brings in college & high school coaches from some of the best programs around, along with pro & college players to give a lot of individual instruction & assessment. These camps are also an opportunity for college coaches to assess talent for future recruitment... Getman says it right in his signees press release.

I've heard there is a really good camp in Germantown, too, but don't know specifics.

I would think that with an installation like the Rose Fields on Forest Hiil - Irene, they would have good camps there as well. Maybe a kid will benefit from attending BOTH.

I'm taking donations then. Getman's camp is over $600. Camps seem to fall into two categories. 1) where rich kids go to play. 2) where soccer players go to get better. I think Getman is the latter. There are a lot of the former in the Germantown area.

Ouch, that's expensive.

Our grandchildren in Collierville played lacrosse (the male) or were in equestrian activities (the females). None played soccer so I don't know what camps may be available. Now if you want to discuss the West Tennessee Pony Club, I have gotten some info - the youngest just got back from some meetings in Bowling Green, KY.

All I know is that the Rose Soccer Complex is very impressive when seen from the Morris Expressway.
I have a basketball and football player, and haven't sent anyone to a residential soccer camp since my now 30 year old nephew was 14. But I will make a general comment if that by "residential" it means that they are staying on site in dorms, etc. then 1) my son learns more by an exponent of 8 at residential camps vs. day camps, and 2) $600 for a four day residential camp is not cheap, but by residential camp standards, $600 is not outrageous.

My nephew went from a bench warming 10 grader to all county his junior and senior years after the camp he went to (Birmingham Southern residential camp).

If you can afford to do it, and I know it might be a sacrifice, I think it would be worth the investment.

Good luck to your son; athletically, academically, spiritually, and socially.
