Its looks early on that EMU will be a slight favorite. 07-coffee3
Game is on ESPN3. I'll guess the line will be: EMU by 2 or 3 points (based on my reading of the Sagarins).

BSU won their first two conference games (vs. us and CMU) and haven't won anything since...

They had an overall winning record after the CMU game and are now 7 - 20. Ouch!!!

Interesting, but this is a school Mike Edwards (per Twitter) has visited.

Their HC is in his 2nd season and has got to be feeling the heat. Presumably next season is critical for him.
I am going to miss this one. This is a should win. But looking at Ball States results, they have kept slot of their games close despite not winning many.

I'll be really frustrated if EMU loses this one.
EMU is a 3.5 point favorite, which isn't very good considering who we're playing And the expectations of many on here after a 11-2 start.
Now it's down to two sorry to say.

My question: Does Murphy have to sit this one out?

If so, that could be a problem.

Would it make a difference? Usually it's the next game. If they don't do it for the toledo game there is a ggod chance they will wait till next year. They normally they don't carry it into the tournament unless it happens during the tournament. 07-coffee3
Wouldn't be shocked to see Okoloji start over Bond. He had a nice game against WMU, and Bond looks like he has hit the "Rookie Wall". It happens. He's still a big part of this program's future.

This might be our last chance for a win. Considering how bad we've been at home the last couple games, it's hard to see the Toledo game being in our favor. If we win this game, and NIU loses tonight against WMU, we can do no worse than the 9 seed. Only shot we have at a home game is to win our last two and hope Miami loses their last two. Odds are we are probably going to Oxford again. Hopefully we can get a lead and hold onto it this time.
Does miamihave the tie breaker over Eastetn?

I believe so. I think after head-to-head it's record vs best common opponent. They beat 11-5 Bowling Green and we lost to them. Therefore they'd have the tie breaker. It becomes even more convoluted if we beat Toledo. We would then need BG to have lost their last two so Toledo finishes ahead of them and then we would have the tie breaker, as Miami lost to Toledo.
Sam, thanks for the insight. I don't mind going to Miami, Emu might get their revenge. But the thought of EMU being in the group of the bottom third is so disappointing to me.

Me too.
Quite frankly, only two teams are playing poorly, namely, BSU and Ohio, and on paper (0 - 14 last 14 games, BSU is the weakest).

To me, the only critical seeds, other than 1 - 4 which get a bye or two, are #5 and #6 who host BSU or Ohio.

After that, Miami, NIU, etc. are playing decent ball and aren't push overs.
True, Steve. But I'd rather play Miami than NIU in the first round. NIU would be hungrier for a win against EMU. Hopefully that pans out...

Agreed. I'm still surprised at how poorly we've played in conference. Hopefully we can get a win or two in the conference tournament to somewhat wash the bad tastes out of our mouth.
If season ended today who would play in the first round and where ?

At Miami, since we have a head-to-head tie breaker over NIU. We'd be the #9 seed.
Thankfully tonight is an ESPN3 broadcast, so we need not worry about a subscription fee. I really hope next year each team in the conference will be prepared to broadcast the full MAC slate. I really miss the MACDN.

I think the phase-in period is a few years. Thought it was supposed to be 1/3 of the MAC each year.

BTW, we are now up to a 3 point favorite now...

Sean just went through the tie-breakers. Miami holds the tie breaker over EMU because even though we split, Miami holds a win over BG and us a loss. That becomes a tie-breaker.

IF we win 2, NIU wins 2, and Miami splits: We hold a tie breaker over NIU (defeated them twice). (Think I heard this correctly).
