Listening to the announcers tonight the color man said over and over how bad our defense was. They knew Pastner didn't know his a-- from a hole in the wall. At the very end the announcer said we needed to attack and get our shot off quicker and all we did was dribble around with seconds left and tried a 45 foot 3 point play. This is so embarrassing. Time to go Josh...as soon as possible!!
The announcer was was telling the truth on defense. Why would you leave a guy who has scored wide open. Even an average coach would be aware not to let this happen. We have a mini Rick Barnes
Shaq Goodwin played 44 minutes. Let that sink in... What coach does that? I get it that Austin went down but good grief.

CJP isn't NOT a defensive coach....give up too many layups and players going for 30...CJP IS NOT offensive Coach...players always going 1-5 and looking stupid...CJP is not a communicator...BECAUSE HOW CAN YOU BE THE COACH AND THE PLAYERS NOT GIVE YOU WHAT YOU DEMAND IN PRACTICE?
Why are we playing a 2-3 zone while they continue to light us up from outside the arc.
Maybe the "Jedi" amoeba zone we ran against UCONN only worked because they couldnt throw the ball into the Mississippi River that night.
I've been saying it for a while ... what basketball media/coaches/people say in social media and on the air is one thing, but what they really think about Pastner's abilities off-the-record is something different.

He just isn't a good enough basketball coach to be coaching a program like Memphis. Maybe he will be down the road, but right now he is not.

I don't defend Pastner. I can't stand stupid post dissing ranked teams like SMU.
It comes down to having the best players on the floor....Nichols is our best player, with him out...we won't win much.......that's cost us 3 games.
I'll bite! MOST COACHES/MEDIA PPL....DON'T THINK THAT CJP HAS A CLUE...and that he needs to go to a Eastern Illinois or like school and work on his crap...cause he is wrecking a luxury jet...
CJP will get whipped going forward because doesn't have a plan...

I disagree. We had a nine point lead, at home. We looked clueless because we are. We had no idea what we were trying to accomplish offensively or defensively. It was obvious in the way we went about it and the results.
So Coach doesn't or can't teach defence?
Yes it was bad. No dout! But... I've seen Shaq & the team as a whole play very good defence. Yet no consistently. Shaq has defended well on similar or exact plays before but tonight he just stood & watched them cost to the rim or cut backdoor. That's 100% on Shaq. Same goes for team defence too.
That's not on Coach. That's a player not doing the job we've all seen them/him do before with being in correct postion at the right time.
Coaching defence is important, don't get me wrong, and I would be fairly certine that the staff isn't just so clueless they don't know how to instill a defence. Yea, knowing where to be is important but with what I mentioned of the staff & actually seeing then do it at times & when they have, how they learn how. Is The staff maybe unteaching them during the time outs??? Well, some might actually say so. Haha!!
My opinion is that most of defence is simply made by pure effort. As evident tonight when our effort clearly wasn't there to many times tonight to pull out the W.
I had fun time watching them tonight & their progress through out the season. Too bad on the ending, never fun to lose but nether less I understood what this season was going to be with ugly basketball from a VERY inexperianced backcourt, but still I'm gonna take what ever fun there is to be had no matter how short lived. Then I simply look forward for the next game & as its the only thing in my power, I'll hope for the best & want to see then always just fully get at it hard no matter there's gonna be some ugly basketball.
I'm sure many will disagree, but with our returning players and the Lawsons, I'm excited for our future. I really believe next year is our year where we will be right back up. The potintial is there in almost all of our current players to keep getting better year by year. Go Tigers!
