Oh, and the guy fromNIU who guaranteed NIU would win the MAC title is looking good now. If they win eight of their final three games they could do iit.
God, I'm angry. This is the most puzzling UT team I can recall.
Its simply been way, way too long since we've been in the NCAA tournament. That length of absence should not be acceptable. Period. I will always be grateful that K came here and revived a program that was on life support...but it's looking pretty clear now that his success was built largely on one guy--Rian Pearson. I think Coach has earned a couple more seasons, particularly since next season will be reliant upon significant contributions from several true freshmen...but can he finish the deal at some point? This should be THE program in the MAC--not one that loses to mediocre competition several times a season.
Well there is some good news out there:

Namely-----The Rocket still have a chance to end up in the top four seeds so they would NOT have to play a tourney game at HOME in Savage where they are 4-4 in conference at present and instead they would get to play on the ROAD (at Cleveland) where they are 6-1 in conference play to date.

We have to beat Ball State at HOME on Saturday to keep a top-4 seed possibility open...Given that Northern beat us I don't think we can take anyone else for granted...
I thought NIU would win the MAC but I was counting on Highsmith and Bowie playing. Rockets have shot 62 free-throws against NIU. That's just hard to believe.
I hate this quote:

@NickPiotrowicz: Not time for fire and brimstone yet, though. It was going to come down to Mt. Pleasant anyway. TK: "What we want is right there for us."

Wtf does that even mean? If you lose to ball st as well, no, it won't be right there for you.

You probably crapped away a top 2 seed tonight. And you're still looking ahead to cmu?

Doesn't sound like coach was even focused on these two home games.
Should have just played the game Tuesday night in front of an empty arena so nobody would have been subjected to that.
Lady Rockets may be a better bet at this point...
It's been obvious since the Detroit and Oakland losses that the MAC Tournament was the only way to make the NCAA Tournament, but that doesn't explain performances like what we saw last night. The lack of defense was just awful. After a slow start, the offense was flowing late in the first and throughout the second half, but the D never showed up. Similar to the Kent game at home, it was pretty obvious what was needed to stop NIU, but they just didn't execute.

I'm with H2O, this is a very puzzling team.
We wont lose again this year. Im bettin Toledo will SMOKE Ball State. Wont be closer than 22 points.
Doesn't it seem like, win or lose, our opponents always hit a bunch of threes in the last few minutes of every game?

That's a bold statement.

Ball st is the worst team in the league. Might as well not even go to MAC tournament if you can't beat them.

CMU is playing the best ball in the league right now. They're going to be fired up, and they rain 3s from all over. We gave up more open 3 looks last night than we have the entire conference season combined.

You never know what to expect against the EMU zone. They're statistically terrible offensively, but so was NIU and look what they did to us.

After last night, I would guess they win 1 or 2 out of 3. Win one out of 3 and they'll earn themselves a home first round game and a quick exit from the tournament. 2 out of 3 would likely earn a top 4 seed. 3 out of 3 would likely get a top 2 seed, but that seems so, so unlikely after last night.
This team isn't as good as I thought. They have athletic talent, but great effort every night and team chemistry are missing. They should take a lesson from Inma. She shows up every game.

Yep. +1

To me, part of the mystery with this team is that you never know how they will perform. Even after last night, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rockets win their last three, because their play on one night doesn't seem to have much to do with their play another night. This team can beat anyone in the MAC or lose to anyone in the MAC. One pattern seems to be that most games are very close, and when that happens you're bound to lose some.

The Rockets have disappointed despite the very good luck that we have had with injuries both this year and last. (Aparicio's injury was bad luck for him but had no effect on the team's success.)
These home losses are just confusing.

we cant use our attendance advantage at all apparently.

This loss is inexcusable.

It does sound like a morgue in our arena on most nights.

Play has been part of the reason, but really, when you watch on tv you see a lot of folks just sitting there lifeless.

Regardless, you can't lose to a bad team at home.

You need two road wins to make up for every home loss.
I can understand maybe WMU or CMU because of the caliber of basketball is much better than NIU, but seriously in all honesty, this was pathetic. This one goes to the coach for not having them prepared after a day delay.

Im sure the attendance wasn't as high as it would have been the previous night, but still, we get double the amount at least that NIU would dream to get in their arena and yet its silent.

Really need to look into getting that building energized and use the 4 or 5k crowds to our advantage against these teams.

For whatever reason, even though the stats don't necessarily reflect that opponents shoot from 3 more often or better against us than overall for their season, it does seem that the teams that beat us have had either open looks and/or shot lights out from 3 down the stretch...may not be true, but it just seems that way...
