He only played 15 minutes, but that was due to having to sit out most of the first half with two fouls. That's a shame. He would easily have received over 20 minutes of playing time if he hadn't been in early foul trouble. But it bodes well for his future in the program. He has to be encouraged that he's been starting lately.04-cheers
I saw UALR put out on tweeter that Mareik is shooting 57% from the field and 47% from the 3 point line over the last 5 games.
Who could complain about that? I'm pretty certain he'll get his 20-25 minutes if he can stay out of early foul trouble, and if he can do that, he'll have a really good chance to show what he can do. Sad part is that it took the coaches over half the season to figure out a lineup. My early prediction came true. They had too many players who could play, and had too many choices. If you only have five or six who can play, it makes it easy to find your main lineup. If you have ten or eleven, you're going to overthink and try to keep changing things, or try and keep too many players happy, which doesn't work either, unless you're playing Nolan Richardson's style, where you press a lot and rotate ten players or more.
Last year I thought I saw flashes of good play from Hill, and was thinking he might develop into a special player similar to Shane Edwards(one of my favorites). Then he got off to a slow start this season, so, I had 2nd thoughts, maybe not so good. But lately he has been doing well so maybe he can become an outstanding player for the Trojans. If he and Isom stay, they could be a good base for who ever is coach to build on.
Marius was nursing a knee injury for awhile, which held him back. I believe he's healthy now, and really showing some skills. I don't see him anything like Shane Edwards. Mariek is more like Shane Edwards and even Joe Stephens, going back further. Longer and taller. Marius is more like Roger Woods. Roughly same size and build. Actually a little like Stan Blackmon, but he is a better outside shooter. Stan scored most of his points around the basket, but I think was somewhat similar to Marius. And maybe you could compare Marius with Richard Hardman. That could be the best comparison of all.
