Devonte had regained his starting spot in recent games. Maybe his personal situation interfered with ability to give 100% to the team. Maybe he became a distraction to the team. Maybe it is all for the best. Still with 4 weeks left in his senior season, I wish he could have finished it with the team.

Can Steve pull a rabbit out of his hat and win enough games to get us to New Orleans? I really don't know. He seems to have a knack of pulling the team together, when things get tough, but I'm not sure if he has ever faced this much adversity. The 8 team format sure makes the end of the season more fun and interesting. If every team went to the tournament, I'm not sure I would care that much if we finished 7,8,9, or 10 (11th technically goes to AppState). Like always, I would care about the ASU game, but now it looks like it will be crucial to where we finish.
Once again we lose a Senior starter for reasons other than injuries. We might hold the record for the number of years where this occurred. You expect underclassmen to leave or be dismissed from the team, but not Seniors. I don't know what happened, but it's just another strange occurrence to a strange season (or seasons).

Well Steve told us yesterday at the luncheon and it was even in the paper today. Devonte has a 3 and a half month old child that he is apparently trying to be a father to. I can't imagine doing that, attending school full-time, and playing DI college basketball. I know I couldn't do that, and I guess it got to be too much for him to. He had to give up something and it wasn't going to be the child. So stop going to class or stop playing basketball. If it was Steve that helped lead him to make the right decision, than I think more highly of him than I did before. It would be easy for a senior to stop going to classes and just play ball. It would hurt our APR, but I don't think that is a huge concern at the moment.
I realize there was a good reason for this. Maybe there should be some classes on birth control!

Sorry, I was just responding to your statement "I don't know what happened".
That was before we were both at the meeting. Bad thing is he doesn't finish the season with the team. Good thing, he'll finish his education and hopefully be a good father. As I said earlier, life often gets in the way of basketball.
