After our performance in Little Rock this past weekend, I don't see how we're gonna beat UTA . . . Though stranger things have happened . . . 07-coffee3
4-9 about to be 4-10 after Thursday. It has truly been a miserable basketball season.
Our coach, Byington, said he thought Ark. St. was one of the more talented teams in the Belt. We need to bounce back after tough loss vs ULM on Sat. Tough schedule this week- home tomorrow vs Ark St. Then play at UALR on Sat. Crazy schedule.[/i]

Quit trying to understand the SBC schedule, it will give you a headache. UALR goes from App State to Little Rock as well.

It's been mentioned more than once that the talent is down so much in basketball this year that the top 4 of the SBC last year, would probably win this year's version with ease.
What exactly is changing next year with the ball schedule? Has it been decided yet?
It's Jason Capel. However, Jeff can go screw himself as well.

Wow....coach speak or I wouldn't trust your coach at all. Talented...stAte BB....LOL. Now if he is talking the woman...yeah.
Well our women's team is awful -- I think we are 1-11 in conference-- so your women's team should pound us tomorrow.

MBB will stay Thursday/Saturday and WBB will be Saturday/Monday next year. Completely different schedules. Only doubleheaders will be coincidences. That's official.

Likely sticking to 20 games but that's not final yet.

There will be a max of two sub-D1 games allowed on the schedule. That's official as well.

The schedule this year is actually balanced in terms of travel for everyone. However everyone is making ridiculous Thursday/Saturday trips. Everyone hates it. Yes doing more travel-friendly schedule will keep players out of the classroom (amazingly, App hoops players are in class more this year than last year in the bus-friendly SoCon) a little more and effect the geographic outliers like App State, but it's better for everyone.
Game Day! Bobcats and Mavricks in beautiful San Marvelous, Tejas! Last I saw, Bobcats a 1-2 point fave . . . Gotta be for home court, as I can see no other reason for us to be favored against the Mavs.

Eat 'em Up Cats!
Thanks for the answer T-Dog. Those decisions are pretty much in line with what I would hope for.

I would like to see non D1 games reduced to 1 but reducing it to 2 forces us to at least cut 1 out. We have pretty consistently played 3 per year, which is 3 too many for my liking.

I hope the 20 game conference season continues. I like playing everyone home and home.

Making the Thursday/Saturday trips more sensible will also be an improvement. For example if we play Ark. St. in Jonesboro on Thur then we should play UALR on Saturday in Little Rock.

And your one win was a 14 point stomping of USA. Our ladies team is terrible this year.
If we beat anyone by 14 points this year then that team must be pretty bad, like we are. I think there is a fairly good possibility that we make a women's coaching change after this year. I think our current coach has been here either 3 or 4 years and we don't seem to be improving at all. I have watched them some this year before our men's games and we simply are overmatched in many games. We are not very athletic and simply put aren't very good at all.
Our home newspaper the Jonesboro Sun had a game story on the women this morning. Other than the starting line-up and saying the men's game was after the women nothing on the men. Never seen that before...Sad, sad, sad.

I think almost everyone here has accepted that the Men's team is just playing out the string until we can make a coaching change.

The Women's team have this game, than a week before what could be a title decider @ UALR. It's a trap game if there ever was one.

The problem with that is it leaves out App. Everyone has a logical travel partner. I suppose App could be paired with a a bye, but that makes the scheduling messy.
Well we won the game 65 to 60 but I am sure our coach will not be too happy with this one. It is the worst I have seen us play at home in a conference game so far. We sometimes shoot too many 3s and I think tonight was one of those times. Ark. St. had 2 players that killed us tonight--- Livingston and the big 6 10 guy whatever his name is.

After watching Ark. St.'s coach it is a wonder he can get anyone to play for him. All he did all night was rant and rave and scream. I never once saw him say "good job" or congratuate one of his players on a good play. He was in their face all night screaming and ranting.
