Tiebreakers
Three or more teams - record among teams
(La Tech 2-1, UAB 1-1, WKU 0-1)

Two teams - head to head
If no h2h, record against top seed

Wednesday games:
5) ODU vs 12) North Texas
6) UTSA vs. 11) Charlotte
7) Middle Tn vs 10) Marshall
8) Rice vs FIU

Thursday games
1) La Tech vs Rice - FIU winner
2) UAB vs Middle Tn -Marshall winner
3) WKU vs. UTSA - Charlotte winner
4) UTEP vs ODU -North Texas winner

7 games to go.
I really don't want to play La Tech or UTEP again, but I doubt we'll be able to win a championship without going through either one.

Looking at the remaining schedules, we are fortunate to have the easiest slate of games. I'm worried about North Texas and Rice. They are capable teams that can beat us if we play sloppy on the road. We've had struggles in every road game in CUSA play.

That being said, ODU is still a strong contender and could finish in the Top 2. With 5 road games remaining, I believe WKU will falter down the stretch and the Top 4 seeds will be LT, ODU, UAB and UTEP (but I have no idea what the order will be).
All I care: GO BLAZERS!!! Tied for 1st!!!!
I want the #1 seed. I want the regular season championship. I want a guaranteed postseason.
Does anyone know how the NIT picks a team if there is a tie for the regular season? Does the NIT pick the #1 seed? Do the pick the team with the best regular? Does the conference pick?

That's a very interesting question. I'm not sure that it has ever happened that two co-regular season champions were both left out of the NCAA tournament.

Princeton and Harvard tied in the regular season but played an extra tie-breaker game to see who would get the NCAA autobid. The NIT said that they would use that tiebreaker to disqualify the loser of the game from an NIT autobid (since the regular season conference champion was determined in a tiebreaker and that champion got into the NCAA tournament):

I guess that would mean that they would use the overall seed to determine who the conference champion was. Which means that if we were co-championships, but the other champion won the conference tournament and we didn't, we wouldn't get an autobid to the NIT unless we were the #1 seed in the C-USA tournament.

I believe it's up to th conference, and I believe most use the top seed in the conference tournament
Pretty sure the 1 seed will get the nit bid

Given our record I'm not certain that is guaranteed. Probable, but not certain.

The guarantee I desire is the NCAA bid that accompanies winning the conference tournament. I'd take the regular season to go along with it, sure, but that's the prize.

The nit is guaranteed if we win the regular season and don't win the tournament. That's in the rules.

It actually is guaranteed
The NIT a year or so ago changed their invites to first offer those who won their regular season conference championships & did not get the auto bid to the NCAA. I happen to feel that this is good to do regardless of how our team fares in any particular year.

We need UTEP to lose if both us and LA Tech keep winning. The other tie breaker will be record vs next common team and that would be UTEP as of right now. La Tech still plays @ODU and vs UTEP.

UAB should be favorites in every game from here on out pending a loss somewhere along the way. UAB should feel pretty comfortable even with 2 more losses getting a top 4 seed. UAB has by far the easiest road from here on out toughest games being MTSU @ home and WKU @ home.

I would like to see ODU win out the regular season and play us in the finals of CUSA and UAB win of course. That would put two CUSA teams in the NCAA tournament (or at least should).

Gotta take care of these two road games this week first. GO BLAZERS!!!

Guaranteed if you are the only regular season winner. Not guaranteed if there is a tie. USM and Middle Tn won a share of the regular season but stayed home last year. LA Tech was the #1 seed and got the auto bid from the NIT. If the conference chooses, they will choose the best choice, usually the #1 seed, but not necessarily.
Is there still any hope at all of being a two bid conference this year?
(02-08-2015 04:10 PM)Hopeful Wrote: [ -> ]Is there still any hope at all of being a two bid conference this year?

That depends on what ODU does because they're the only team that can get an at-large from CUSA.

Yes. Despite what some people will try and say, ODU is still in good shape for an at large. They currently have 5 top 100 wins, including one huge, top ten win. They are just a game back in the loss column in conference, and still play La Tech, UTEP and WKU. They have 2 losses against UAB and MTSU that don't look good, but they aren't super WTF losses like the one WKU just took.(they went from the 60's to the 90's in RPI with that loss) According to RPI wizard, if ODU only lost at UTEP the rest of the way, they would be 25-5, 14-4 with an RPI of 30 and SOS of 146. I think if they did that and didn't take a bad loss in the conference tournament, they would be okay. They definitely have that one big win that our top teams in conference have been missing lately though. I like their chances right now.
With UTEP, WKU and La Tech still to play, ODU is our best friend.
Ken Pomeroy has UAB favored in all seven remaining games, but five of seven are by five points or less. Consequently, his projection is UAB will finish the conference at 14-4, along with La Tech. He has WKU, UTEP, and ODU all finishing at 13-5. It's crowded at the top right now. What a race!
