The Flashes need this one. The next month is going to be telling.

Is this team talented enough to compete for the MAC? or at least for a top spot in the Mid American Conference Tournament?

Has KSU added enough depth through recruiting to bounce back from a disappointing injury?

Whats the team's mindset heading down the stretch? 6-3 and sitting atop the MAC is the reality.

GO FLASHES!
If we go 6-3 in second half, we will get a top 4 seed. still a lot of basketball yet to be played and the top 4 seeds will up for grabs until the last week
Disappointing setback for Jimmy and the team, but you must go on, and college athletics is a no-excuse deal. Hold serve at home, steal a couple of the road, and we will be ok.

Despite Miami always playing us very tough, I see us getting healthy on Saturday.
Kent State did a lot better on Wednesday than I thought they would have, going up against last year's MAC champs on the road. They lead most of the game up until the final 20 seconds. I had that game as a probable loss, even with Hall. Still, no excuses.

They are at 15-7 now, and with another win they're tied with last year's 16 wins. I think Dev & Derek can carry us a bit, but we need one of the big men to take on a bigger role in the offense.
You have to win at home vs. the bottom teams in the league if you want a chance to get a top seed, period. It's a must-win game.
Dev's been up and down with his jump shot lately. If his shot isn't falling we need him to be active like he was in the Toledo game. Without Hall we're going to need at least 30 from him and Jackson on most nights.

Going to need a lot out of Ortiz and Spicer too. I've always been a big believer in Spicer and Ortiz has always kind of driven me crazy. I've really grown to appreciate Ortiz though, he's bringing a more consistent effort this season and his jump shot has been better. I know he took some heat on here for that last air ball against WMU. I think it needs to be stated that that shot was taken with 2 on the shot clock. As for Spicer I'm starting to wonder if he'll ever get it. He's a frustrating player because there are few in the MAC that can match his combination of size, length, and leaping ability. He needs to take this as an opportunity and become a force inside.

Another guy that could be key with Hall out is Gary Akbar. He's not going to make up the scoring but he's got solid size and very good athleticism. He can be a big help on the glass from the 3 spot. He's a really good high low passer and seems to have decent chemistry with Spicer so maybe an increased role for him can help Spicer get good looks around the rim. He'll need to start finishing them...

From what I've seen so far, we've got the talent to stay in the MAC race without Hall. Some guys are going to have to step up though.
For the basketball junkies, this afternoon offers a few fixes.

John Groce and the Illini are looking like they will escape East Lansing with a win.

Toledo (6-3) visits Ball State (3-6) at 2:00pm. MAC fans should be pulling for Ball State in this one.

Jim Christian's BC Eagles host North Carolina at 2:00pm.
KSU 74 Miami 62
Toledo is the first team to seven wins. Kent State, Bowling Green (at NIU) and Akron (home vs. Buffalo) could really use victories tonight.
Does anybody know why Kris Brewer is not playing tonight? I tuned into the radio pre-game a little late.

TBD.
Good crowd tonight
Man o Man. An illness to the most productive player on the roster, followed by a suspension to a four year senior. Lets hope Kent State can beat a sub - par conference opponent at home.
37-37 at the half...fun game-they're letting them play. Marquiz has played most of the game and has no fouls yet
Down 4 with 4 left. No matter what happens, a great opportunity awaits the spin doctors.
