Sure they probably won't win the CAA this year because JMU is a machine..BUT...this is a team playing mostly freshmen (or Freshwomen) and Sophmores, and with the exception of 2-3 games, have been close in just about every one.

Coach has them performing at a high level, and is likely needing 2 more recruiting classes to get them to the upper tier of the conference.

Yes I am finding womens basketball fun to watch, anyone having an issue with that meet me in an alley somewhere.

Get on this train NOW....don't be a bandwagon jumper!

It is easy being a Yankees fan, not so easy being a Royals fan.
Am with you 100% on this...like you, have been touting the aggressive play of this young team.
Night and day change from the moribund and divisive character of teams under previous coach.

Coach Swenson, with just one recruiting class, has brought stability and promise to the program. Jut wait until he has a couple of more recruiting classes in here.
Little tidbit on coach, at Sacred Heart he made the post season every year he coached there but one.

Think about that.

Swanson... don't make Tribal put a trigger warning on this thread.
Having only seen them online, it appears as if an amazing transition has taken place with the ladies program. It is good to hear from those there that they observe the same.
The most fun I had as a student was going to women's basketball games. It's nice to hear that the team is actually good for a change.
Looking at their remaining schedule, a finish close to .500 in the CAA isn't out of the question.
The game @Hofstra is televised Sunday, tipoff at 4pm.
Nice road win tonight for the women at Drexel (RPI c. 65 going into the game) 72-68 in double OT.
Second consecutive double-overtime CAA road win...beating a very good Drexel team (14-8, 8-3 CAA). Team trailed by seven with 1:51 remaining in second OT, but came back to win!

Aggressive defense on this team sparking our run to .500 (11-11 now, 5-6 CAA). Last night team had 13 steals among 26 Drexel turnovers.

They should be around 14-8, they lost 6 games where they were leading with under 2 mins to play. It is a young team, so it looks like they are adjusting well to playing under pressure.
The ladies are in a close game with Hofstra that's on ASN right now.
Our ladies just set a school record shooting just under 62% as they blasted CoC 84-55.
I cannot recall the ladies program ever blowing any conference opponent out. Ever.
They are now 13-14 (7-9) in 7th place in the CAA with 2 regular season games to go both at home versus 4-21 Northeastern and 10-18 Towson. Would be great to go into the CAA tourney with an above .500 record overall and 9-9 in the conference.

Delaware (at 8-8) has to play JMU and @ Elon and UNCW (at 8-8) has to play @COC and Hofstra (a tough one). Not sure of tiebreakers as we split with both teams but would be nice to move to at least 6th place and not have to play on pillow fight Thursday.

All 3 teams have been swept by JMU (Del-JMU play on March 1)
Drexel is current 2 by 1/2 game over Hofstra - We split, Delaware and UNCW were swept
Hofstra is current 3 by 1/2 game under Drexel - We split, Delaware swept, UNCW lost and has 1 game to go against them

Looks like if we win our last 2, we could wind up as the 5 or 6 seed realistically
11/23/02 7 pm ELON W 66-40
12/6/02 GARDNER-WEBB W 84-56
1/30/03 * TOWSON W 68-43
2/6/03 * at Towson W 62-35
12/31/03 1:0 Charleston Southern W 77-52
11/23/05 7:00 p.NORFOLK STATE W 70-43
3/1/07 Kaplan Arena William & Mary 75, VCU 53
2/1/07 Kaplan Arena William & Mary 75, Drexel 50
11/21/06 Kaplan Arena (Williamsburg, Va.) William & Mary 70, Longwood 27
In practical terms, a 6th seed might be preferable to 5th because it would keep us on the other side of the bracket from JMU -- clearly the 800 lb gorilla in CAA women's hoops this year (no offense to them). I believe the Tribe have split with the likely 2 and 3 seeds, Drexel and Hofstra.

Would be great to have some people show up Sunday and root them on as well.
Tribe women now 14-14 with one regular season left.
When was the last time the womens and mens teams both had winning records in the same season?
