For those who are in the now about such things?

Have grandaughters here in Dallas, got the tickets, going to be at Cowboys Stadium. But looking at the tour schedule and Ticketmaster I don't see Memphis. Got a granchild there that would like to go too.

The tour is mixed with arenas and stadiums.
Unfortunately that is par for the course for a lot of big tours these days. I'm not exactly sure why.
Not hard to understand really. MOST of her output was as a country singer. That and the fact that she is uh 'Lilly White'...and is now a pop singer.
When you THINK of Memphis...what demographic comes to mind first and foremost?
I know there is a segment of Memphis that is not entirely African American...but as an artist, I would concentrate my touring efforts on cities with large concentrations of the demographic I was trying to reach.
Sadly, Memphis is not one of those cities that fits Taylor's targeted demographic at this time.
Something to that effect.

It would be the same demographic area that sold out for Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam and and I don't know how many performances of The Phantom, plus this show draws the kids. There has to be 20,000 white kids in Memphis that would go to that show plus draw from Little Rock to Jackson TN.

I get what you are saying, but I was wondering if there might be some scheduling conflict.

We used to never get the "arena" shows until we got The Pyramid, then we got shows that we had missed for years. And now, you can't get this show? Something's wrong.
Maybe Justin Timberlake is one of the guys she sings about in her songs.

cough, cough, cough, no suitable indoor stadium and/or scheduling conflicts with FedEx Forum. Has nothing to do with demographics, she easily sold out Memphis last go around.

I predict she'll hit Memphis within a year still, this tour will go on into 2016.

You folks just don't believe that a downtown stadium doesn't have uses outside of Tiger home games are nuts(I mean that in a friendly way)

Take a look at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest lineup this year with some of the headliners playing, You could incorporate the stadium just off Beale into a fest venue for larger headliners like The Who, Elton John, Urban and so on. Talk about taking it to the next level. Clapton last year showed that they'll even play a smaller but separate venue that coincides with the fest.

Arena availability, I see this dynamic at work in Tulsa. Lots of acts will eventually play both OKC and Tulsa but usually on different legs but Tulsa seems to score some concerts that never hit OKC. The Roger Waters tour last year when He was playing The Wall beginning to end, Tulsa got it, OKC didn't. NBA dates take up lots dates, throw in a college basketball team or a professional hockey team and it gets smaller. Add in the touring shows like Ringling Bros, or the new Marvel's Live that's booked out more than a year in advance for three and four day blocks including Sat and Sun. and that's even more open dates gone. Little Rock seems to get as much or more than Memphis because Verizon doesn't have a major tenant. It's actually laid out for concerts a bit better kinda like Bridgestone

Here's a Verizon diagram for a full house concert

Here's Bridgestone for hockey but you see how it would set up for a concert

Imagine a stadium that's configured similarly but has 60,000 seats and a floor space for a football field and a giant videoboard on the upper deck void on one end.

For Elite 8 rounds of the NCAA maybe Final 4
take the Verizon chart, make it where two side sections of the lower bowl on each side(105, 106, 121, 122) fold up and the non decked end would actually move in toward the middle for a basketball configuration. Temp stands can be added to the deck above the lower bowl that would move with lower end section. Boom, 60,000 for basketball.

the dates that Taylor is hitting Nashville and Dallas are in football season. I guess since she was in Memphis last year they decided to skip.

Just saw The Who announced for Dallas in the fall, oh yeah I will be at that one.

Huh?

The Memphis-metro area (more if you include Northern MS and Eastern AR) has about 500,000 "lily white" people in the area.

The FEF holds about 18,000 for a concert, tops. I think half a million plus can sustain a one time event.

Katy Perry sold out a while back, the Foo Fighters draw huge numbers. Male country guys (Aldean etc ) come to full houses here.

There are race disparities in Memphis, for sure, but this sure as heck isn't the reason.

Little Rock does fine with less, see Fleetwood Mac this year.

I still bet Swift plays Memphis early 2016 along with Little Rock .
Like Wayward said, I'll bet Nashville, Dallas, & Atlanta are on the first leg of the tour, Memphis, St. Louis/Louisville, and Little Rock will be on the 2nd.
I think it's because she hasn't dated, broken up, and wrote a song about someone in Memphis yet.

This may be the dumbest thing I've ever read on this board. That is saying a lot.

I guess nobody told John Meyer that when he booked here and sold out. He is the whitest man on the face of the earth next to Kenny G.

Didn't think about that, just went by what was on the current tour list.
