That really leaves Duke with a short bench next year. They are likely to have only four players back who have had significant playing time. Amile Jefferson, Marshall Plumlee, Matt Jones and Justise Winslow aren't likely to leave early. But Okafor and Tyus Jones might go, along with Quinn Cook who graduates this year.

Their two blue chip recruits, Luke Kennard and Chase Jeter, will have to contribute right away. Maybe the opportunity for big minutes will help them land one or two more uncommitted blue chippers before signing day.

But it could be an unusual year for Duke in 2016.
any idea what the problem was?
Very surprising news. This sure doesn't help the bench depth this year either.

I suspect he was doing some 420.
In a couple of different areas (both message boards & Twitter), I've seen reference to a recurring disciplinary problem that happened again at ND and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. And dook fans definitely don't want K to have back problems again & have to bring Pete Gaudet back...

I am out of the loop, what does "420" mean? I'm guessing pot?

Yes.
I had this conversation with a good friend of mine at the beginning of the basketball season, to which I said:

"Sweetie -- Sulaimon is a 'headcase'. You can see it when he's on the floor and things aren't going his way. He pouts alot. If he can accept his role as a 6th man, he & Duke will be better for it."

My friend: "What?! I don't see it -- you're crazy, D."

Me: "Just watch".

"I guess Rasheed really was a headcase"

* 'Sheed didn't seem to be emotionally 'stable' and likely struggled to accept a "supporting cast" role.

* Remember last year when he struggled to find minutes -- he wasn't playing defense at the "Duke" level and he likely pouted about it alot. He can shoot lights out when he's on, but you gots to commit to defense when playing at Duke.

* This season, everyone with insight could see this coming when Tyus Jones (freshman) and Justice Winslow (freshman) were in the starting lineup with the season started.

Now based on what I've seen on the interwebs, I'm getting the idea that maybe he was told he wouldn't see the minutes he wanted, and had a meltdown -- maybe?

Now, if you go back and look at the last few games, Matt Jones has been seeing more minutes as well, and in fact, he played 21 minutes at South Bend.

So, it looks like the kid failed to accept a role of "secondary" player when he likely(?) felt he should start.

This can happen if a kid comes in thinking he's a lottery pick when he isn't. There was talk when he was a freshman that he might be "one and done", but that had abated by the end of the season.
