Wow - just two weeks before signing day? Let's see if CC and staff can convince some Chip recruits to reconsider...
Resigned "effective immediately".
Looks like this will be story to keep an eye on.
Oh.... He's going to become Arkansas' OC.

Dear Friends,
Timing with signing day about ten days away couldn't be worse. On the other hand, maybe they think they can name a new coach by then, and the recruits will be saved. Not that there will be massive de-commits because of this.
Some on the Bronco Stampede think they will hire Annese from Ferris State. Maybe a done deal, and that's why Central has done it this way?
Any new HC you'd think may want to alter the coaching staff a bit which could make a difference to recruits as well.
Enos has always been a mixed blessing to most CMU fans not as successful as Butch Jones et al. Many will not shed a tear on his leaving. Interesting move on his part.

Yes most of the recruits will have relationships with the assistant coaches, it will be interesting to see how many of those coaches are retained.

The timing is interesting.
Feel bad for their players, commits, and fans. Most of their commits will likely sign with them--to late in the process. If EMU would try and flip on the most likely would be S Tyrone Miller.
Wow, this has Firing all over this announcement. Head coaches don't leave for P5 OC positions

They do when it doubles their salary and puts them in a better position for the future.

Fascinating list of possible candidates for the CMU job:

I like several including Hoke. I assume Brady didn't go brain dead during his years in Ann Arbor.

If he was good enough for Ball State, San Diego State, UofM, etc. he should be good enough for the Chips...
It might be fair to say that Enos perhaps didn't warm up to CMU and the fans likewise. Apparently he lived in Midland and not in Mt. Pleasant which rubbed a few people the wrong way. Discussion yesterday was that Enos wanted a raise and a contract extension and the CMU administration was moving at glacial pace "considering" it. Several coaching changes later and presto Enos had an opening and he took it with a nice raise in pay to boot.

I honestly don't see CC "flipping" any CMU commits most of the class is in at this point and I think CC honors his offers, he may flip when another school flips one of ours. Of course if a CMU commit approaches us and wants to flip and there's an opening heck yes. I just think CC has a higher standard of coaching and personal ethics.

Others names mentioned included MSO offensive coordinator David Werner (sp sorry) and Brad Salem whose name I brought up in connection with EMU's opening. Problem is of course that both of these are MSU and would be viewed possibly as Enos Mark II (recall Spinal Tap). The Ferris Coach seems to be a fan favorite.

I agree, again, with '79.

I have real familiarity with that area up them (more than going to a cottage or something; but a part of my life for a few years: hint - CMU student/alumna.).

Yes, living in Midland would p*ss off CMU fans. My recollection is that Midland had a reputation of a company town (Dow), with a lot of money, and that is where folks with $ who didn't want to live in say Bay City or Mt. Pleasant would live. Of course, if your job is in Mt. Pleasant and a marketing-based occupation (as FB is), then that is a minus.

I also agree, no reason for a kid to flip from CMU to EMU just because the HC left.

WMU, I assume is at or above their upper max, so I don't see any flips to WMU.
Hustlebelt mentions Jeff Quinn and gasp Ron English as possibilities. Now I know the world is ending.
Dear CMU,

Please hire Hoke or Loeffler. Your last UM lackey worked so well.

Love,
EMU (and WMU)
