From the SGA President:

"Tell us what questions you want answered by coming to this town hall OR by filling out this survey:"

Soon as I finish what I'm doing with this Task Force inquiry, I'll turn my attention to this.
Question submitted!
I send a note asking if their would be a group formed of smaller donors. People that can only donate a small amount, but when pooled together can equal significant money. $1000 x 100 folks is an example. Every little bit helps!
This is today at 1pm. UBOB 206. University Blvd Office Building, 1201 University Blvd., Room 206.
I hope some recaps of the meeting get posted for those of us who were unable to attend.
Watts just mentioned forgetting the past & focus on the future.

I am. He's just not part of it
I can't wait till he's part of UAB's past.
Kelsey Stein is tweeting from the meeting.
“@Joey35209: Hire & Messina say if this becomes a rubber stamp committees the sign to public will be that they walk off committe”
So wait 3 months then force Hire & Messina to walk off of committee.

Watts wins.
“@Joey35209: Hire: whatever the final report says, the entire committee will be in agreement.”
@kelseymstein "Messina says, when it comes to finances, everyone is going to have to step up. That could mean increased student fees."

Hopefully these are the kinds of assumptions that can be made when they look into the report. Our conference affiliration (money) and top donors were not considered last time.
I think Hire is determined to make this work. I don't know how much money he personally has or what other folks with deep pockets that he knows, but I suspect there will be a huge behind the scenes press for donor money to save football. This also goes back to Hire's comment about not caring how much it cost back at the Iron City celebration of Clark.
“@repjack: Committee member Frank Musina says BOT will have 2 approve capital improvements needed 4 upgrading #UAB athletics. No current athletic debt.”

Doesn't matter as long as the BOT still has the ability to reject all improvements we are screwed.

What type of capital improvements are they talking about? practice field turf and indoor practice facility?

EDIT: I just read about UAB having no athletic debt, that's simply amazing in today's climate. Why doesn't anyone in the national media want to touch on the issue how a football team that is not in the red gets shut down...
“@Joey35209: Hire: 2015 football is impossible. We're shooting for Football in 2016.”

With the media eye on this subject, I don't think you will see something like that happen. The funds secured will likely be released publicly first before going to the BoT which will force their hand. Previously we didn't have money in hand. And admittedly we shouldn't HAVE to have money in hand, but if we do and go public then it pretty much mandates the BOT approve.

In the past the BoT has hidden behind the claim that the money wasn't in hand. It's up to us to ensure that can no longer be an excuse.
