Saw a post similar over on the sbc board.
I don't know if the invites are out yet, but Taylor Heinicke's stock appears to have gone up as a result of his week at the East West Shrine Game. He has jumped several spots and is in the top ten in several of the draft projections. Based on being projected in the top ten quarterbacks, I would have to believe that he will get an invite to the combine.
it may be tough for some on the outside to understand (and at least me on the inside), our 6-2, 300lb, DL, Rakeem Nunez-Roches declared himself eligible back in december ....

why? I have no idea....

he's good.....he ain't that good....at least not yet....

....am afraid that boy is getting ready to learn a hard lesson...

as an aside....check out the following early entries from nofunleague.dum and see if you notice something not so odd.....

early entry list as of jan_15

good luck pal.....I just don't see it happening....
Invites have been sent, but won't see an official list until the first week of February.

not sure if you were referencing OP or me.....my list was espenis showing those that have declared...roches isn't on the list.....

that's a slap in the face already.....
Hopefully Cam Thomas gets an invite, he performed well in East West Shrine Game...OL Clemmons did not but I think he was going against some really good DL who overpowered him...

The practices before the game are the ones that matter most and although the game carries weight its substantially less especially when two retarded coaches like singletary and zorn calling plays. Is Cam thomas the dude on East roster?

Yea he is a projected corner, was wearing Number 19..He definitely has the size to play in the NFL...RIght now I think he is projected to be a 4th round pick...
Saw a stat the other day that 107 underclass men declared last year. Only 55 ended up on an NFL roster. Going early is a huge risk unless you are definite 1st or 2nd round material.

as previously stated....I don't understand what roches is thinking.....

barring injury, he had no downside by staying.....the upside was easily the better play....

wish him the best, but it's just another wtf moment....as I've said before, I'm almost immune....
Nunez would have been a 6th year guy and his mother is not in a good situation.

He could stay for another year on a dismal, terrible football team or he can leave early (with his degree I might add) and try to play pro ball and make some money to help his family out.

He has no reason to stay in the Burg. Only one that benefits from him staying are the coaches.

...can sympathize with plight....

he'll always have the degree....

...business doesn't know sympathy....

I think he's screwing himself....

time will tell....
What benefit would Nunie get from playing another year on that team?

Scouts have all the tape they need. This was his true 'senior' season anyway.

ummmmmmkay.....

nobody changes and improves as they age?

may not get drafted?

already has degree?

draft stock can only improve?

I'm feel like a 33 rpm stuck on repeat....

the only downside is injury imo.....and he already has his degree....
Yes, meaning he'd potentially get hurt, have to take graduate classes, etc.

Or, he leaves, gets onto a practice squad somewhere at the very least, and makes $85k a year, again at the very least. He'll turn 22 two months after the draft. At his position, the more punishment you take in college, the less chance you have at a lengthy NFL career. He also got to go out with many of the guys he came into the program with and that means a lot to those kids.

Don't blame the kid one bit for leaving, neither does the coaching staff, and anyone that does is selfish and unrealistic.

I'm not blaming the kid.....have stated I wish him the best....

I just don't think it's the right move....

as always, it's just one guy's opinion
Rice's Christian Covington has been invited to the combine
Taylor Heinicke did not get an invite
has been reported N-R has been invited....

liinky
Still don't think it was the right move?
