Yes, So........
He plays UVA Saturday. Perhaps he can replicate what he did last time he played them.
Looks like he's playing well for them - so thats good to see.

Maybe I'll watch the UVA game and try and look out for him.
I saw him play earlier this year against Miami I think. He looked okay.
Notice how much better the offense works when one of your guards isn't running head-long into an opponent driving to the hoop.
I really don't get the venom some of you have for Batten. He is a solid player, and he made a choice that was probably best for him and ODU to head to BC. I am really happy to see him doing well. He has really moved himself up the ladder there over the course of the season, and has become one of their better contributors.
Good to see that BC has worked out for him.

And I really don't get your aversion to people pointing out that, while he played very very hard and was often put in tough spots defensively, he spent a good portion of his offensive career out of control. Given all of the attention he got from both staffs, I really don't get why he didn't get what they wanted from him.

I hold him no ill will; just not a fan of his game.
This guy is also putting up some pretty solid stats, albeit for a very bad team.

No ill will either, just saying.

Wish Batten well. He honorably represented ODU during some tough times (and the UVa upset was special), and he graduated and wanted a change of scenery. I wish him fair winds and following seas.

Oh, and here are the highlights of that Governor's Cup game. Batten and Bacote were just outstanding that evening. My favorite memory of Batten's tenure here.

Agree 100% Smitty. I always liked Batten for his passion and hard work. He didn't always take the shot I would have liked and he made some bad decisions at times, but he loves the game and gave us his all, sometimes great, sometimes not so much. I will always appreciate him for what he did contribute. I wish him the best of luck.

Seriously, Razor? They're 3-13. Not sure how he would even add anything to make this team better.
Good for Tri. I always liked him, as a player, even if sometimes he could be a little exasperating. Some similarities to how I feel about Arledge. I'm glad things are working out for him at BC. When I catch them on TV, I always watch to see him. As far as the "other guy", I'm glad he is doing well, too. We have talent sitting on the bench this year, so I'm good without him.
Good for him, but I just remember his sloppy ball handling and bad shot selection. I think we're much better off

That was out of necessity IMO. He could have been a solid role player on a good team. Here he was forced to try to carry the team most of the time.

True story about Batten (off topic)- The 7-11 across from Del Vechs, I walked in and Batten was just staring at the Orange Juice/ Apple Juice bottles in those refrigerators along the wall. Poor guy didn't know which kind of juice he wanted. He spent a good minute just staring at it. I found it amazing. OK, that's all.

(As a Boston guy, I'm glad for him.)

That's an interesting story...

Here's mine.
I was at the 4400 Campus Club on a weekend night (back in the mid 90s), and there was a brawl outside of one of the clubs and mayhem on the sidewalks. Brion Dunlap ran up with blood over his eyebrow. And I said, "Hey, what's up Brion?!" He looked at me and said, "I need a Coroner!"

I dont think Brion actually needed a "Coroner" as he was still alive, but I got what he where he was going with that request.

I probably did that a few times myself during my years at ODU.

Think you're making too much of that. My ex teaches AP calculus. Has a nearly a 100% pass rate (only one "2" in the last 15 years) she couldn't make a simple decision over things like that ever. Would stand and stare at the candy bars for 5 to 10 minutes then get the same candy bar she always got.
