I was planning to attend the UL/GS men's BB game tomorrow until I saw the start time. Maybe some think the 6:30 start time is reasonable but only if you live in Statesboro. I live in Savannah and that guarrantees an hour drive to campus (thinking optimistically here) during rush hour traffic and most days I don't leave the office until after 6:30. That means, if I'm lucky, I can make it to the game by 7:30.

The question begged is who is the game's audience? I can understand the need for the games to end at a reasonable time for the student/athlete to be able to 1.) get some study time in (smirk), 2.) get plenty of rest for the next day's activities (underwater basketweaving class at noon) or 3.) celebrate/commiserate after the game. I can also understand the game time being 6:30 for the student spectator for the same reasons. However, most of a sports venue's revenue is directed at alumni and university sports fans. Georgia Southern's game times for football were perfect but they are generally played on a Saturday evening; no conflict there. However, the Thursday night games started late enough for fans to arrive before kickoff. Did anyone suffer a moderate to large degree from those start times? Not to my knowledge.

My suggestion is to move the start time to the weekday games to 7:30 P.M. That is still a reasonable start time plus the venue becomes more customer-centric. I believe the games will see an increase in attendance with a later start time thus more money generated for the university.

I really wish I could make it to tomorrow's game but it doesn't look promising.

The league decided to play double headers for basketball this year to help reduce travel costs. Also, the start time is 7:30pm (or roughly 30 minutes after the women's game which tips off at 5:00).

I'll be there coming from Savannah.

I think you looked at a central time somewhere, because it's scheduled to start at 6:30 here in Louisiana.
This is hilarious.

The league list game times in CT, so add an hour for ET, so tipoff is 7:30 pm ET. Plus the men's game starts 30 minutes after the women's game, so it could be closer to 8:00 pm ET.

The game times for the Cajuns/GS has the women's game starting at 4pm and the men's at 6:30 central, so I guess you could be right for the men's start time is the first game runs long.
Our last few double headers with the girls starting at 5 has the guys starting around 7:30
I think almost everybody in league this year is doing a 5:00.7:30 start. I know UALR is doing 5:30/8:00, but otherwise, start times seem to be universal on week night's.

Weekend's are another story, but there's more time to work with those days.
I feel your pain Sarkelcpa, I once had to wake up early to make it to a 10 am bowl game.

On weekdays we (UALR) are starting the women's games at 5:30 with the men's games listed as starting at 7:30. Obviously, that's never going to happen and they have been starting a little before 8 pm. That mean's most don't get home until 10:30 which definitely late for school kids and even a lot of working folks. We need to move the women's games back to 5 pm like most are doing.
I guess 1 con would be figuring out what time zone you are in

My humblest apology for my mistake. I know it must offend those of you who never make any and enjoy a good "gotcha" with a side order of sarcasm. I do appreciate those who politely pointed out my mistake. Thank you. I'll be going to the game after all.
