Couple of thoughts:

I believe the game will be webcast by KSU for free. 03-cloud9 (I believe from here out we have a good run of games on EMU's all-access or ESPN3 or in this case, another school).

The Sagarin 'scores' are as close as close can get. KSU is 75.98 and EMU 75.97 (essentially 'rounding error'). The Sagarins would have Kent as a 3 - 4 point fav. as home team. Vegas???

This should be a more typically sized team than MIA. KSU has two players with good size, Spicer in the middle and transfer, Jimmy Hall.

Jimmy Hall, one of two transfers, is putting up big numbers in terms of scoring and rebounds. He is one of those players who transferred following problems at his previous school.

Derek Jackson is a transfer from CMU, a rarity, a transfer within conference.

And last, but not least, winter will be 1/2 over this weekend. Meteorologically winter runs from Dec 1 through Feb 28 even though that doesn't jive with our Winter Solstice. Folks don't realize it but there is seasonal warming during the 2nd half of Feb. and a lot more in March.
We beat up on them last year with some of the same players returning for KSU. However, Jimmy Hall looks like a legit 1st team all-MAC player, and that makes the team look A LOT different than it did last season.

I honestly don't know what to expect. I couldn't have, in my wildest dreams, envisioned being 0-3 in conference two weeks ago. Not it's a very legit possibility. We need a win in the worst way, but it's hard to see us pulling this one out. God I hope I am wrong.
Steve, you have some good posts here. But bringing up the meteorological winter was particularly interesting. I always had the sense that winter was really Dec to Feb. Rather than late Dec to late March. Never heard of the term meterorological winter before. Very useful to know.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter#Mete..._reckoning

"In one version of this definition, winter begins at the winter solstice and ends at the vernal equinox.[5] These dates are somewhat later than those used to define the beginning and end of the meteorological winter – usually considered to span the entirety of December, January, and February in the Northern Hemisphere..."

In D.C. this is very noticeable, the ave (historical) high rises for the first time on Feb. 2, being one degree higher than Feb 1. In D.C.'s case the ave. high goes from 44 (Feb 1) to 50 Feb. 25 [and then adds another 10+ degrees in March.]

Essentially adds one degree to the ave. high and lows per week in Feb. and then two degrees per week in March. 02-13-banana

You can find monthly ave. data at the accuweather.com site.

EDIT: for Ypsilanti, the ave. highs increase by 7 (!) degrees from Feb. 1 to 28. Dead of winter is usually late January and then it is the beginning of gradual warming.

I nailed the point spread. ESPN has Kent a 3.5 point favorite.

It's game day!!! 04-cheers

P.S. Vegas isn't too impressed by BSU's two conference wins. The computers look at the entire season, not the last week.
i would love for this to be the start of a 5-6 game win streak. if we go on such a streak, we'll look at the first two games as a blip. however, that is a big "if", which means i'll have to cheer as loudly as possible from home to help the team along for these road games.

i want to see 10 rebounds from our combined centers, 8 rebounds from Ward, 10+ points from Talley, Ward, Lee & Price, and fewer than 10 turnovers.
I just want a W. Really, really badly.

Hopefully we bounce back and prove that blowing a 25 point lead at Miami is simply because Millett Hall is cursed.

Millett Hall is cursed! Even after the renovations, it's still very dark in there. At least the seats were comfortable.

If we win this it could be the start of a nice winning streak. I just have a feeling that they are going to win tonight.
Anyone have a link for watching? can't find it on the KSU website.

Looks like 1965 color TV with an antenna on the roof. the video is weak.

I have MIA/CMU on another HD TV (ESPN3) and the color is tremendous.

I can't wait for ESPN3 in all MAC arena.
Solid start again. Actually pulling down some rebounds too.
So far so good ! Anyone else lost sound ?

Yes.
I suggest Bob Wickersham listens to this Kent State radio call that goes with the video. It's atrocious.
Up 11. We are looking pretty sharp offensively. Finally clamping down on the backdoor cuts defensively too. Gotta keep this effort up.
i love all the turnovers we're getting here. this is great. and the offense is nice too. Luckeyone must be pleased as punch that our bigs are getting nice touches near the hoop.
We have Superfan.

EMU has Superman tonight #14.
