I'm almost positive he was once a Toledo Rocket verbal commit, but I can't find anything about a 'commitment' to Toledo on the internet.

Anybody have or know anything?
His final two was Ohio st and toledo. Saw a tweet on it tonight.
How do you destroy Wisconsin 59-0 in the Big 10 title game...beat Alabama in the semis...win the ******* national championship by 3 touchdowns...all with your 3rd string QB?? Unreal.

I hope I'm not the only one on this board who can't stand to see what has happened, happen.
These next 12 months are going to suck around tosu fans. Also, lost respect for Meyer not taking knees at the end of game. Classless.

Go Rockets!!!
Victory formations would not have closed out the game, though he could have gone for a fg and still been up 3 scores. Didn't see the Oregon coach running on his last plays, put his QB in harm's way.

No biggy how it played IMO. Can't think of a reason I'd not be happy Ohio players and Ohio coaches won the championship. Surely can't think of any reason I'd be happy if Nike U won. That UT was on the final list for the National Championship QB, that plays big.

Congrats to Columbus U.

Their Heisman winner QB Troy Smith was almost a Rocket too.

Yep. They won't shut up at all now. Bandwagon is beyond full.
he was gonna come with our favorite Tank Sturdivant

They actually were a better and more difficult team to defend with Jones in the line-up at QB. Proof is in the pudding, as they say.

Sturdivant is still a UT student. Have seen him at several b-ball games...

Sanzenbacher was all set to become a Rocket until Ted Ginn Sr. got involved, and subsequently steered him to o$u...
Guy plays 3 games in his college career, what prepares you better for the NFL going to the right school or sitting and hoping you get a chance. If 2 guys don't get hurt Jones is NEVER heard from. QB it is so important to pick the right school, more so than any other position. GOTTA PLAY TO GET PAY.

Congrats to Columbus U.

Yeah, but Oregon was letting the clock run and not calling their timeouts. They should have knelt.

But I'm confused as to what championship the Bobcats won! 03-confused
For the sake of the MAC, it probably was a blessing that C. Jones ended up in Columbus. I think Jones would have had a nice career in a Rocket uniform... 04-cheers

Le'Veon Bell and current MSU RB Jeremy Langord were almost Falcons as well. It's what's still wrong with college football IMO, too many scholarships.
What happened to Cardale should be an object lesson to players coming out of high school. But for injuries, he could have easily been buried in the depth chart and never had the opportunity to play. A 3-star coming out of high school has to think about that. Come to Toledo and have a playing career, or go a more high profile program and risk getting lost in the depth chart and spending your career standing on the sideline during games.

Brad Smith was another Ohio kid who was planning on coming to Toledo, but ended up following Pinkel to Missouri and having a stellar career as a Tiger.

Page and Mancz have both been Ohio athletes that have become FB All-Americans while playing for the Rockets.

Getting stuck somewhere on the depth chart is pretty subjective...it happens at all levels..... not just at schools on the top of the ladder. We had three QBs fighting to start and we might not have seen the 2nd and third players if it weren't for injuries. Actually if you count the kid from Louisiana there were 4 QBs. If Macon wasn't available against NIU, he might have played. With Ealy coming back and if he stays healthy, some of these guys might never see any playing time. Add a 5th QB coming in next year and you really have a guagmire. I guess the coaches feel they play the best available guy!

Looking at this thing from the other end of the stick, I wonder how T.O. and his big arm would have fared at tOSU with a different QB coach? Would he have ever seen the field or OTOH would he be on an NFL roster now?
T.O. had the arm but not the pocket presence. I never played qb so I don't know how much of that can be coached and how much is inherent. Always thought he had a shot at the pro game because of his ability to laser in passes out of the pocket and think the spread hurt his development by having him focus too much on running, run reads, and moving out of the pocket. just cause a qb is fast doesn't mean he should be running the ball.

next year's passing game should be interesting. woodside is the only qb who seems comfortable throwing the long ball even though his arm is only average. ely (if healthy) throws the best mid range passes. julian his the best arm and legs but looked kinda lost in his brief appearances this year. griffin was a rs, and i haven't heard if he looked good or plans to stick around with a crowded depth chart. giudagni (sp?) the incoming recruit looked great all year and might be a kid who competes for playing time early.
