Sounds like Wes has agreed for Messina to be on the committee. Can't see Messina letting anyone railroad this committee. Sounds like Don Hire also laying down the law.

Maybe there's an organization of UAB alums not beholden to anybody out there somewhere that wants my money.

Is there one of these? If not, I imagine there will be soon.

I think the most efficient and practical way would be for the pro UAB football elements to make a stronger push for leadership roles in the existing NAS. In other words, take back the NAS and put it into the hands of those with a desire to support football. Even if connected to UAB, so long as you have people in leadership who don't have salaries directly tied to UAB, you should be able to remain immune from admin mandates.

I agree totally - the staff will always be beholding to the administration for their jobs, but the alumni serving all of the NAS leadership roles - officers and board members - determine the organization's direction. What we have is a group of officers and board members who have been cozied up to the administrations, past and present, for a long time. That's okay I guess when the President of the university actually has its best interests at heart. However this is Ray Watts, so when stuff like this comes up, their loyalties are divided. I am sure that we can find suitable replacements come next election.

I am about sick and tired of people with divided loyalties having a say in our future.
This committee is a farce even with those on it that we would like to be on it.

It is nothing more than a delay tactic by Watts.

NoCon Watts. Let the committee work the real numbers and show that the Carr Report was drivel.

What if the committee bends over and "confirms" the numbers? As bogus as everyone knows they are. That possibility has to be considered given what has been going on this week.
Because certainly Smith would be the one doing the presenting of the facts.
If Watts were to.corporate with all the people that are trying to give him an out this situation would be more tolerable for everyone involved. He should stop saying that he believes in the original analysis because if that's the case there no need to do a review of the report that should have been reviewed before the decision was made. His arrogance is the cause of this....He has the ability to walk this thing back but instead he wants everyone to plunge off the virtual cliff with him into a abyss. Just because he said so!

If things are that corrupt we're screwed, and frankly, if they are that bad, I think I'm gone anyhow. Maybe it's my idealistic side showing.

I agree. I hope they require regular progress reports with summaries of findings to make sure the full financials are being considered and there isn't any shenanigans going on in the review process.
