He pulled a what? Porter left UALR for a better job in a better conference closer to his family's home for more money. What in the world is wrong with that? Our program would be a hell of a lot better off if we consistently had coaches who were desired and could move up. WKU has made a tradition of it. Or does this make me a "hater"?

cannot comprehend UALR fans pulling for Gillon (other than those who want our program to look bad). I
can understand fans pulling for Porter. He resurrected our program after the Sidney debacle and was all class in my contacts with him. While you can't understand how one can pull for Porter and Gillon, I can't understand how a Trojan fan who hates the hogs as much as you do, can pull for Shields now. At the same time, I can understand Trojan fans who are hog fans first, pulling for him. If he should be fired, he might get hired as cheer coach at the UofA.

So if you had a much better job offer you shouldn't accept it because some local observer of your current position doesn't believe you have accomplished enough where you are? That is patently absurd and you know it!

Maybe because I see it as dump, stupid, ignorant, silly, oblivious, unwitting, and suggesting very poor judgment rather than mean-spirited. I will pull for Shields as long as he is our coach. I will also pull for him if the decision to leave UALR is not his choice. When folks chose to leave my program I view it quite differently. I will never forget Mike Newell turning down Marquette to stay here, whatever the circumstances of that actually were.

You don't have a realistic understanding of how college coaching works if you hold it against coaches for wanting to improve their situation. Why should they stay at a lesser job to make you feel better? You wouldn't do that.

Now that we are discussing this more calmly, let me join in any call for the non-existence of any agency that has any authority over who can be a fan of our program. Then you ought to go a little easier on Newell then for turning down the job. I thought he was crazy myself, but was glad he stayed. I guess that's one way to look at it though. Your coach doesn't want you to trash him forever for leaving for a better job, so he stays in LR for life. Can't beat it with a stick.
