We won.
The 3 pointer by JD just before the buzzer at halftime was absolutely awesome. It will have to make any highlight reel for this season. The team seemed energized for the second half after that event.

Shot was great but the leap to get the ball wss REALLY amazing. Akron was slow and not athletic. Number 55 played very well for us after their only scoring threat took a T with 4 fouls. He dribbled away huge smounts of clock on seversl possessions and in grneral demonstrated a Bastfieldesque lack of quantifiable skills.
That buzzer beater by JD was about as ugly a shot as they come lol! Great energy and effort tonight--thank you, Rockets! Maybe the hardest they've worked since the VCU game. Coach called it a "must win" game and it was fantastic to see the team respond.
This is the entire Akron game thread? I thought that I must have missed it. I mean there were so many pages after the CMU loss,so full of hard hitting critiques and in-depth "expert" analysis. There were people regretting their season ticket purchases. Where are those people after a big win over Akron? Where is the excitement over Williams and Drummond coming to life? What about Mosely and Weaterspoon, who continue to bring a spark to the court? Maybe this was an annomoly, maybe this is the beginning. If I was from the outside, it would look like a lot of fair weather fans gave up for now, unless of course, Toledo were to, God forbid, get hot again or end up winning the finals.

Need to string more games together with the effort that they brought in the second half.

Need to win on the road a couple times to make up for the home loss.
Some of us were actually at the game cheering on the Rockets. The fans really got into it when it was obvious the players were playing hard as a team.
Akron must live and die by the 3. Felt like they chucked up a prayer every time down the court.

Some people will still find something to b!tch about...
Thought we were flat until JD hit the buzzer beater and then we came to life and it was game on.
I heard that JD's buzzer beater made ESPN Sportscenter's Top 10 Plays! It was #9. That play gave the team and the crowd so much energy! That was a very fun game to attend! I'm so proud of how the team played. Great contributions from everyone on the team.
I started the thread as a joke AFTER the game sincecthere was no thread before. But for those who spend all their time complaining about those who spend all their time complaining it is worth noting that the biggest crowd of the year (I think) showed up on a bitter cold Friday w tons of HS hoops going on to compete. Fans haven't given up. The story of the last two games, in my opinion, is the play of our bench. Mosley and Hall are really starting . To have an impact, Garber looks much more confident and Lauf is....well, Lauf. He plays great on-ball D and does all the dirty work.

I have to disagree. I thought we were playing very well in the first half, with a lot of energy. Akron was also playing very well in the 1st half; they were making shots with a hand in their face. JD's shot definitely gave The Rockets momentum going into half.
In the 2nd half, The Rockets kept attacking the basket and were drawing fouls. While Akron just settled for J-shots and weren't making them and we limited them to only one shot.
Our "D" was so much better last night.
Go RRRRRRRockets!!!

It was a GREAT crowd. Would have easily been over 6k if students were around.

That may be true, but why don't you still throw a couple of scores into this thread every once in awhile so we know how the game progressed and how it ended. Sheesh, we have just forgotten how a thread is supposed to be handled around here - even if the game is already over - that's no excuse...
I had something else scheduled last night (believe it or not, I don't spend every second here) but I did record the game on my DVR. Haven't watched it yet, but if you like I can post updates when I do watch it. From who won the opening tip to fouls to who starts the second half with the ball, along with score updates. 05-stirthepot
I fell asleep and missed the game. Jet lag has been killing me. Sad I missed a good one.
I'm pretty sure this was our first game televised at Savage Arena by one of the main ESPN networks in a long, long time. I can't remember the last time it happened (ESPN3 doesn't count). Crowd looked good on TV, just wish we had a student section. Savage Arena is one fun place to watch a game when there's a full house. If we keep winning, hopefully our crowds will get bigger and we'll maybe even have an actual standing student section.
JD def should have got called for traveling before that buzzer beater when up. just sayin! 03-wink

I thought so too initially. But replays look like his left foot was planted.
