that both UALR and ASU's men's teams are having terrible seasons with a strong probability of coaching changes at both schools, while both women's programs are playing lights out. What's wrong with this scenario?04-cheers

It's not hard to understand at all. The BCS schools put all their eggs in the football and men's basketball basket. All have women's sports and some even take them very seriously, but many don't. A small school can excel in a women's sport if the emphasize it. LaTech and Old Dominion have a number of national championships in women's basketball. That would never happen in men's basketball. The Sun Belt will struggle mightily to get a men's team in the Top 75 to Top 100. They can get 2 or 3 women's teams in there.
Can our women's team represent our men's program?

Obviously the same in volleyball.

I'd love for UALR to invest in men's soccer and become the best DI program in the South. They could do it. Most schools in the South don't even have DI soccer. Again, it would actually be do-able (unlike basketball or American football), but of course it will never happen. We could have the best bowling team, too. It's just not going to happen in men's basketball. We are simply not ever going to compete with the "big boys". Bobby Knight came and told us that when Newell was here. I didn't want to believe him, and didn't at the time. I do now.
He probably told the Gonzaga and Butler coaches the same thing.
