Madison is a huge wildcard for us, and he is right, we need him. Not just tonight, but for the rest of the year. He can score, he has proven that, now we need him to do so. It would also be nice if we could get any production from the guys toward the bottom of the bench. I would also like to see us be able to run some more offense through Mehinti. I know he's a little turnover prone, but he is a solid finisher.
Will be at the women's game here in Boca with my #FreeUAB sign

Thank you! It's awesome to have support from our conference brethren.
Madison and Mehinti have both disappeared. Washington has caught a lot of blame pre conference, but they have been worse than he has been.
CJ was supposed to be our best player and carry a much larger load than Mehinti or Madison. He was preseason all CUSA.

His play this year, considering the load he was expected to carry vs. Madison and Mehinti, has been worse.

I agree that both Madison and Mehinti have disappeared somewhat as of late, however.

Madison hasn't really played poorly. We had a brutal schedule that threw all these young guys to the wolves. They all were learning there place. He'll start coming back on nicely during conference.

I hope you are right. We need him if we are going to do anything in conference play.

After watching all the games up to this point, I've come to the realization that we shouldn't be so critical of any of these players. It takes time for a team to gel. It takes even more time for a young time. All that's important at this point is that things are trending forward. I'd like to see 2 solid wins this week. That's wear we need to be.
I question Haase's substitution patterns.

It doesn't seem like anyone has a chance to get in the flow of the game before they are removed.

I think that he should whittle it down to 7 or 8 players who get the time.

I agree with this. It's what I've been saying since day 1 this year. We have to be patient with these guys.

That being said, I'm with blazerman a bit. I don't mind playing ten guys, but when we find a rhythm I would like to see us keep that group on the court for more than 2 minutes. I think we mix and mash our guys up to much, and I also think this can't help us defensively. There is no time to try and adjust before you have a whole new look coming in. If we are going to continue subbing at this rate, I'd prefer to see us pressing close to half the game on defense.
Sullivan didn't play at mid tn, so he may have cut it to 9. Problem is we play poor defense which means more fouls which means more substitutions.

This! +100
This young team needs confidence as much as anything. Win these next two winnable games at home and we are 3-0 in conference, almost halfway to what many projected our conference win total of 7 in the first week, and almost equal our total wins of the first two months.

The blazers need a huge crowd tonight and Saturday. A crowd devoted to cheering for basketball, and not with other agendas.

Let's get to 3-0

I really think Haase sacrificed the first half of the season to see who he had. His sub patterns were all over the place. Sullivan not playing last game is what I believe to be an early sign of Haase whittling down the rotation.
Mehinti needs to have a big game because he will have an advantage with Justin Raffington being out. Raffington is FAU's senior center who was averaging 9 and 7 before a stress fracture in his foot has kept him out of the last four games. It has forced FAU to start a freshman in the middle and go small most of the time. In the FIU game, FAU only played two guys taller than 6-6 for a combined 41 minutes. (They did also play a 7-footer for 3 minutes, but I wouldn't worry about him.)

And they don't have that Euro dude who smoked us last year.
Bertone went off for 34 against us last year. Glad he's gone. Of course, everyone who scored more than 4 points for us in that game is gone too.
Oh good, a tough ball game tonight to take UAB minds off of reading latest updates of Watts and his rather expensive efforts to save face. I know of at least three UAB presidents who frequently attended UAB Basketball games I don't reckon Ray will be there tonight. Go Blazers!
I think Sullivan should play. He is a talented, multifaceted player..
