Hey Watts, did the Carr report account for these expenses in your decision to end football?

Quote:Senior executives from Direct Communications will be paid $275 per hour; senior account Managers will be paid $175 per hour; and account managers will be paid $85 per hour.

On Dec. 29, university officials hired attorney Clay Ryan, of Maynard Cooper & Gale.

Ryan will work on educational and governance issues, including strategic planning initiatives and working with community and government leaders. He will be paid $295 an hour.

UAB hires PR firm, lobbyist to put lipstick on pig.… #FreeUAB
Gee, that's funny, and here I thought that UAB had employees who did PR for the university.

Silly me.
He's probably trying to outsource some of this work because he's worried about the cooperation he will receive from everyone within the PR and legal departments at UAB. I'm pretty sure some of the UAB police force don't agree with what he's done, but they are trying to do their job (escorts/protection).

I sure would not feel comfortable if I were Watts. You never know who really is on your side or who might turn on you.
And, here I thought the best PR for a university IS its employees... Guess that ain't so when they get rolled over by a highly paid, bullshi+ artist.
Wow that UAB Forward site (Link on al.com article) basically called the donors liars again. It also called everyone of us that was told they cannot donate to football a liar.

They want feedback on how to move UAB forward?

Okay...

1) Reinstate UAB Football

2) Remove Ray Watts

3) Reform of UA System governance

These 3 steps will resolve many of the presents issues.
Apparently Clay Ryan, the legal counsel that was acquired by Watts, previously served as an advisor for Gov. Bentley. Also a big SEC/UA fan.

Anyone surprised?

Just sent an email calling for the resignation of Ray Watts.
This guy was brought in to counter Jack Williams' moves it Montgomery. Plus that section of the FAQ calling the boosters liars needs to get linked to twitter and Facebook.

Folks….. looks like this PR firm was in some kind of controversy involving Auburn back in 2003. $742,000 was paid to Direct Communications.

Can someone help decipher this and does anyone remember it? What was the outcome of the State Examiners – regarding this PR firm?

I don't know the outcome but they were in the middle of the SACS mess and often did Lowder's dirty work and bidding to control the board.

Interesting... I'm sure SACS with their upcoming visit will be interested to learn of this new twist to the story.
Thanks again, Ray. Nothing like buying us a chainsaw to use on your defense wall. I'm certain that SACS will be interested to see Rick Heartsill in the middle of this. You're known by the company you keep.

Maybe Ray-Ray will go to the game Saturday. He's missed most of the season, hate to see those season tickets go to waste.
