I don't have a non private picture to share or I would. I saw some photos on Twitter of a new Blaze costume at the rally that in my opinion depicts him as a female or adolescent dragon. The best I can describe it is a fiendly dragon with doughy eyes and it's tounge hanging out. It's like our school is trying to turn Blaze in to Pete's dragon.

Well the "back up" has been making a number of public appearances lately. We had 3-4 costumes we could rotate through and that was before they introduced Skinny Blaze. There has to be some fat Blaze's left to be the backup.
Change is change. We are just used to the old one. I'd have kept the old Blaze, but I do imagine that costumes have to be replaced, and I bet the new costume is easier to wear with the shorter snout.
(..still, it's also fair to say the new one is more cartoonish, just like our statue.)
"Blaze" went & got a hose job! What is the world coming to? No, really, took a little getting used to but, I like the new look, still have images of the old one in my head.
Still better than the BGV...

Just like the band and cheerleaders don't appear in uniform at these rallies, I'm guessing the mascot guys can't use the real costumes either. It might need to look noticeably different to get around some rules or something.

That version is most definitely a "real costume" and would still be locked in the Cheerleading storage area. It has made appearances at more than just rallies.
