Still find it interesting that I have not seen this kid sign a LOI yet and that Rivals still lists UC as being in the running. This kid was a 4 star recruit per Lemming. Figured he would have made a decision by now or we would have heard something. Maybe his grades a dicey? Maybe I just missed it. Wonder what the chances are that Kelly saved a scholie for OL number 7 in this class?

Coach Kelly's staff never recruited him. They got other players they liked better with better quickness.
recruiting and actually offering a free- ride are apples to oranges. I'v known many players that thought they were being recruited by many schools, only to find out later, there was no offer. My rule was if you aren't going to offer(they know early), we don't visit. It sorts things out real early. It's a tough approach because the kids want to make the trips, but eliminates dissapointment later.
UC visited Miles and he canceled his visit here.
He signed with Southeast Missouri State, a Div. 1-A team. Go figure.
How do you go from having half the Big 10, about 6 MAC schools, UC and a couple of SEC schools wooing you to going D-1A? I am completely verclemmed (sp?).

BTW UC never scheduled a vist for Miles so he didn't cancel that visit.

I know he is. I get that. The guy who tipped me off on Miles also had lunch with a UC assistant in Chicago before the bowl game who told him that was the reason he was there. I posted this info as soon as I got it.
Maybe Miles didn't schedule a visit. Lots of different info on that. But please don't tell me they were not recruiting him. They did. Marcus is as connected as any and his independent sources also confirmed that.
PS: I never said anywhere I knew what was happening with this kid. Feel free to read the thread again. In fact the exact opposite is true. I am sincerely confused with what happened with this kid. Not just UC changing their minds, but everyone else. Its very strange.

Sounds like Stroter was the one doing the recruiting. Good luck to him.
If I was to venture a guess, I think the new staff cooled on him because he doesn't fit into their offensive scheme. Look at the list of this year's OL recruits and they're all tall and athletic. The new weight coach is charged with putting muscle on them but it's unlikely any will reach the behemouth stage.
Stroter is a steamroller and I think he already goes about 340. He doesn't fit into the offense Kelly wants to run.
