Unreal...

Quote:One couple wanted to get married, but President Obama wanted to play golf.

Army captains Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr. knew Obama was headed to Hawaii for the holidays, so on a whim, they extended him an invite to attend their Dec. 28 wedding — one he politely declined. That same day, they were informed they would have to move their wedding location.

The wedding was set to be at the 16th tee box at Kaneohe Kipper Golf Course on the Marine Corps Base in Hawaii — a favorite of both Mallue and Obama.

“It was kind of ironic they got the letter from them and then, within hours, they were told they had to be moved due to him,” Jamie McCarthy, Mallue’s sister, told Bloomberg Politics. “It was emotional, especially for her — she’s the bride and in less than 24 hours they had to change everything they had planned.”

NASCAR had a similar situation at Talladega a few years ago. There's a church located in the track area that didn't get bought when they were building the track. They had a race rained out and postponed until a later weekend. There was a couple scheduled to get married in the church that weekend. NASCAR went to them and said, if you'll move your wedding, we'll pay for everything it costs you--wedding, reception, travel arrangements for people coming in from out of town, everything--and we'll pay for the honeymoon of your choice. The couple took the offer.

I wonder if Obama will make a similar offer to this couple.
This part was strangely left out of the original article.

The couple eventually chose a lawn near the home of Col. Eric Schaefer, the commanding officer of the base — not quite a golf corse, but it had a view near the 16th hole. After Bloomberg asked Obama officials about the scheduling conflict, Obama called the bride.

“He apologized and congratulated them,” McCarthy said, who said they had a “wonderful talk.”

That would be the right thing to do. A phone call doesn't quite cut it. It would have been a lot more beneficial if the WH picked up the tab. I wonder if the couple got refunded any of the only? It's not like Capt are making big bucks

I wonder what would have happened if this had been a same sex wedding....05-stirthepot
It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Obama knew nothing about the wedding beforehand. He gets tons of mail and requests which are almost always handled by others under him who officer presidential 'official' responses.
I'm sure if it was Army captains Nathan Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr. that had planned the wedding, WH officials would have held off the golf and attended.
Anytime a President goes anywhere it becomes disruptive to plans of everyone affected. It's the only way the secret service can keep a president safe. Glad he contacted the Couple and hopefully being a Military couple, Obama can keep Them out of a Combat zone as a fair trade off. Maybe say Hawaii !

yeah, ummmmmkay.......but so was this...
Quote:But President Obama came to her emotional rescue, placing a personal phone to the bride, an officer with the U.S. Army's 29th Engineer Battalion in Haleiwa.

....assuming 'call' was omitted....

at least we have established incompetent journo-essay where the fbngers don't catchg up abd review......oopsy, did I makea mistake?

it is funny how this is an issue that matters.....
Hopefully Obama will stay on the golf course the next two years. He has to be a far better golfer than President.
I wanted to say Obama ruined the biggest day of their lives (except if any children are born). But it makes a heluva story to say the president had your wedding location moved and he called to apologize. They'll remember that for the rest of their lives.

Obama is still a pig to do that to them.

Just put up a big sign that says Mexican Border. Obama wont go anywhere near that. Problem solved.
Also left out of the story was the fact the couple was advised that there was a good chance Obama would be playing golf sometime that week there, and so they had a backup location already picked out.

I'd imagine you are probably 100% right on this one. This is the most incurious and easily distracted/duped leader from behinder to have ever held the office.

He didn't know about IRS targeting conservatives, didn't know about Benghazi, "read about" the criminal failures of the VA, knew nothing about contemptible Holders fast and furious, heard somewhere, can't remember, about the NSA eavesdropping the German leader, the Justice dept. listening in to reporters phone calls to their parents, and of course his signature fraud on the American people, zerOcare he had NO idea what a debacle the website and roll out would be despite it costing a billion dollars or more. (For a freaking website 03-lmfao)

So yea. A Commander in Chief that will leave behind a dead Ambassador and security detail to flit off to a Vegas fundraiser would most certainly not take much interest in a couple of lowly Captains, heck they can't vote for him going forward anyway, why bother, they're in the military?

Let's remember- it's an Empty Suit world and we're only (allowed) to be living in it. 04-rock

Don't confuse them with facts.

What a great used car salesman Obama would make. He boots a bride and groom out of their chosen wedding location, talks to them, and they're sold.
